Okay for a single stayover nig....
Arrived off the Eurostar at 11pm and headed to the hostel (15 minute walk). I concur with all other reviews that the area and surroundings feel very unsafe, even as part of a couple.
Reception guys friendly and easy check in, had to tackle the narrow stairs with a backpack which was fine but I imagine would be difficult with a suitcase. Stairs stank of B.O!
Stayed in a 6 bed room which fortunately only had two other people in for the evening. Bathroom not the cleanest but powerful shower. Couldnt charge anything overnight as I didn’t feel comfortable leaving it plugged into the one socket in the room.
Street VERY noisy so maybe ask for a room at the back of the hostel.
Was able to keep luggage in luggage room the next day when we went exploring. Then thankfully headed back to train station and out of there!

Not recommended for female sol....
I really regretted staying here. Should have checked reviews more carefully. Location is near train station, you think that’s great? No. It’s the opposite. This area is very creepy with all the creepy young and old guys who smiled and looked at you in a dirty way when you walked by. Lots of refugees/low-life people around. It’s near Lemonier station and it’s where I got
Pickpocketed just 15 first minutes being
In Brussels. About the hostel. The reception was unfriendly and cold. Bathroom was clogged. Sink was clogged. No personal electronic jackpot or lamb like other hostels. High staircase which will be a problem with luggage. I had no idea why I decided to stay here. Even just for 1 night, but the experience is so bad and I lost my phone. I spent 3 days in Bruges and 1 in Ghent and everything went so nice, so I’m shocked here. And price is super expensive for such location and quality. I have 5 other female fellows in the room and all of us was back at 8pm because we all felt so unsafe being here you know. So, yeah, please read reviews more carefully before making your bookings.

This hostel is really not what it looks like on the pictures(it looks nice on the pics), they have no idea what clean bed or bathroom is so prepare yourself for that. People are writing bad comments about the neighbourhood and when I read them night before my trip I wanted to cancel it hahah. There was 15 of us so it wasn’t scary but maybe if you are travelling solo or just 2 girls you might feel unsafe but remember that it’s all in your head. After 4 nights here I was sad when leaving this place because I met so many cool and interesting people there and at the end it was really fun experience because of all the situations, for example-
There was one bathroom and 10 of us in one room so imagine that chaos in the morning.
We think housekeeping stole our bottle of whiskey.
Our roommate was famous Morroccan singer who was staying there for 3 weeks. If you are looking for some nice, clean, peaceful place this is not what you want, but if you want to spend few interesting nights go for it.

In the words of Bette Davis: W....
We have been traveling around Germany and the Benelux for ten days as a group of eight, staying intermittently in cheap hotels and cheap hostels to save some much needed cash. So far we have stayed in hostels in Koblenz, Munich, Berlin, and Brussels and by far the worst has been the Urban City Centre Hostel in Brussels.
There is no lift, so make sure you ask for a first floor room or you will be struggling to heft your roller bag up as far as the fifth floor! The room is lit by a single overhead bulb. There is but one electrical outlet for all three of us to share (and five in the other room!). Management refuses to dispense more than one key card per room, and the remote TV meant leaving a 10 Euro deposit at the desk. The hostel and our room face a very busy intersection, the windows are single glass and the noise level in both rooms is deafening 24 hours a day. Noise between rooms is also high as the walls are cheap sheet rock, which of course should not be too much concern for drunks and those from the U.S.
The bathroom, while modern and clean, is so dimply lit and tiled in black that you might as well be blind. It also has a wretched sewerage odor to go along with the darkness, which management has oh so cleverly tried to mask by placing a bottle of fragrance masker on the tank.
The only positives to be mentioned; The location is very good for seeing sights. Check in was fast and friendly. Breakfast was very reasonable as a buffet for 4.50 Euros each. WiFi is strong and free.
Compared to the other hostels I have reviewed this trip, this place is exactly what Better said - a dump.

Backpackers Budget Hostel.........
i Stayed for 3 nights , in 2nd floor dorm room with basic facilities and wifi signal was weak, its was hot in summer no air con , no charging points only 2 charging points for 12 members the steps were steep, the hostel is right in the heart of city very close to the city centre and Brussels MIDI station , with foot walk away distance. The place is very noisy through out the night , no peaceful sleep for me, its horrible to stay in summer in this hostel and i felt really suffocated as 12 members dumped in a narrow room . The cot was comfy bathroom was ok but was full and cleaning is only once a day i think. Over all its a nice hostel for budget travelers,
