The Kurumba Maldives was opened in 1972 and was the first private island resort in the Maldives. It was last renovated in 2004 and has 180 rooms, bungalows, villas, and residences.

The Kurumba Maldives has won multiple awards over the years. Most recently, it was named the winner of Luxury Family Hotel at World Luxury Awards 2020.It was named Indian Ocean’s Leading Family Resort at World Travel Awards 2020. The Kurumba Maldives was also ranked in the Top 10 Romantic Resorts Maldives at Luxury Lifestyle Awards 2020.Its spa, Veli Spa was awarded for Best Unique Experience Spa at World Luxury Awards 2020. Thila, one of the on-site restaurants, also ranked in the Top 12 Restaurant Maldives at Luxury Lifestyle Awards 2020.
