A great place to stay
I spent 2 days here and was very pleased. Excellent surroundings, clean rooms. In my opinion - quite cozy, but cramped. Master - the captain is an excellent and friendly person, it is very pleasant to communicate. There is free coffee and tea at any time of the day, as well as wi-fi (catches everywhere). In the evenings, you can sit on the deck - there are tables and chairs and a place where you can leave the bike. Get comfortable - by ferry, if not late for the last ferry that leaves at midnight.

Unique and well positioned
This is a real find as it’s a small paddle steamer with 12 rooms and has a sense of nostalgia. The views on deck for breakfast are fantastic and the staff are lovely and courteous. Kapitein Anna is situated in a former ship building area and is a 10 minute free ferry ride to Centraal station. The Dutch transport system is cheap, reliable and easy to get around so your stay here is a fantastic base to explore the area. There are a handful of restaurants nearby but we opted for breakfast onboard to take advantage of the views. Some of the local restaurants don’t start breakfast til 9 so onboard it’s slightly earlier(8:30). Breakfast is continental style although you can also have scrambled eggs with/without bacon or omelette. You are able to have complimentary tea and coffee which is a nice touch after a days sightseeing. The cabins are small as you would expect onboard but are well equipped with a TV, shower and modern sink. Whilst there’s no real hanging space there is sufficient space to store small suitcases under the bed. It would be helpful to have a double plug socket to enable charging up of devices.
We had a lovely stay, and our 10 year old was delighted with this quirky venue.

Charming, beautifully restored....
Housed in a paddle steamer that dates from 1911, Kapitein Anna is a really nice way to spend time in Amsterdam. You're a pleasant10-minute commuter ferry ride from Central Station, (ferries leave every 30 mins), and I enjoyed riding with the locals, and heir bikes!
The boat restoration has been a labour of love, it is beautiful, and staying there was a lovely surprise for my Dad, in his 80s.
You're on a boat, so the rooms are relatively small, but fit two singles, and you have your own ensuite. We noticed a slight rocking of the boat, but not enough to worry us.
We really enjoyed the dining room, with its polished brass and wooden features, and the extensive views of the river and city. A decent buffet breakfast is served at a reasonable price and you can order your eggs to suit your taste.
There are a few restaurants nearby for dinner, but it was generally quiet on that side of the river in the evening.
We had three generations with us, and this gave us all the space and common areas to enjoy our time together.

We had a brilliant time at Kapitein Anna. it was easily accessible via a free ferry from the Centraal Station. The boat was traditionally furnished on the main and upper decks but the cabins were more modern. The staff were really friendly. We had a lovely breakfast each morning. It was outstanding value for money and we will definitely stay there again the next time we go to Amsterdam.
