I am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction with the experience during our stay at the Northumberland Hotel, Edinburgh, Scotland from July 21st to 25th, 2024. Our stay was marked by numerous issues that significantly marred our visit. Firstly, upon our arrival at the hotel at 11:30 AM, we were made to wait outside in freezing weather for almost three hours. Despite being aware that the check-in time was 3:00 PM, we were shocked to find that the hotel staff did not bother to open the gate or allow us to wait in the reception area. This lack of basic hospitality and empathy led to a very distressing start to our stay. The severe inconvenience resulted in us losing an entire day in Scotland, and we missed several pre-booked sightseeing activities, wasting a considerable amount of money. Although the hotel staff finally allowed us to check in after 3:30 hours, the following issues further compounded our disappointment: • Only the receptionist was able to communicate in English, while the rest of the staff did not speak the language, causing significant communication barriers.
• The reception service was only available from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, leaving us without any support or assistance during the night.
• The bathroom was extremely cramped, measuring just 2 feet by 2 feet, making it very difficult to use. Given the substantial inconvenience and financial loss we incurred, we expect compensation for the missed activities and the poor service provided by the hotel. I look forward to your prompt response and resolution to this matter.
