Modern and functional
Loved it - near all mayor sideseeing sites, underground and bus stop only steps away, very friendly personnel (and service-minded), very clean rooms, functional although no cupboards when you book room for two and a king size bed! Breakfast nice for the price you pay!

Good and clean hotel
I liked the breakfast and rooms felt quiet (when the window was closed). My room did not have somewhere to put a bag and also experienced the desk and chair not up to par with what I like to be able to do desk work and preparing for meetings. There is space in the lobby of course.

The lack of service!!
I made my booking on mail to the hotell. In the subject field I wrote the dates as well in the mail it self. I also have been mailing back an forth about my reservation with the dates in each mail. Even after this they manage to book me in the wrong dates a month after my reservation. Its wrong in the confirmation i got on mail. So i probably should have checked it firmly, but I expect that after changing my booking from two to one a week before, that they go through it as well and send me a new confirmation which they did not. . And that's okey but the mind and service you meet when they find the mistake is amazingly rude. The man at the front desk said it was my fault and they have no rooms. After showing the man at the front desk my frustration and also showing him the mail's (that he completely ignored) he ask his boss some how and then they had a room anyway. He also like to point out that it was my mistake? I haven't seen the room yet but I don't have high expectations after this treatment so I probably get a closet or something.
I don't think I have high expectations when it comes to politeness and service but maybe it's to much to expect that the hotel fix there mistake and says sorry without being rude.

Ideal base for city break
We are just back from a 3-night city break in Berlin - our first time visiting there. The city is fantastic - well worth the trip, and we'll definitely go back. The One Hotel in Spittalmarkt was our base. Great hotel - staff were friendly and helpful, modern and clean decor. Rooms small, but to sleep and shower in they were fine (the shower was top-notch), bed comfortable, soundproofing in the room excellent.
The foyer was lovely as a meeting place for coffee or drinks before or after venturing out. Breakfast was all-you-can-eat and drinks for 9.50 Euro. Good quality food and great coffee.
Location ideal - 15 min walk to Alexanderplatz. 3 min walk to Spittalmarkt subway. The transport system is SO easy to use and navigate. This hotel is perfect as a base.

Consistent experience, good va....
I was in Berlin for just a quick overnight business trip. Having stayed at other Motel One properties around Europe I appreciate that when booking a Motel One stay, you always know exactly what you are going to get. There is a consistency with both the product quality and look and feel that most hotel chains completely miss, all Motel One properties I have stayed at get this right. That being said, it's a matter of managing expectations as well - the affordable price tag comes without the luxury of space, closets, fitness center, ironing boards, and other amenities you might otherwise expect from a hotel.
-good location for my needs
The less good:
-lacking an iron/ ironing board when I needed one
