Needs to Improve
Was booked here for several nights and was very disappointed.
*Note: Front desk clerks do not speak English.
-Escort cards are on your hotel door every evening
-dirty shoe print on bathroom floor upon arrival
-desk was covered in dust
-rooms are tiny
-very little light in room and window small
-construction outside hotel and starts very early in the morning (7am)
-only one bar of soap provided in bathroom
-towels were poor quality
-beds were hard
-Room smelled of cigarette smoke
-located next door to "massage parlor"
Room cleaned every day
2 bottles of water provided in room
Rooms are cheap by Western standards
There's a Holiday Inn a few blocks away that has more Western amenities and a much better quality for a little more money. Its worth the upgrade.

Not a place to stay
We stayed in this hotel on a recent business trip to Shanghai. The tariff was cheap, and the beds were fine. But that is where the goodies end. The reception staff couldn't speak a word in English, the breakfast wasn't any good either. They serve you the same items again and again, morning after morning. Asking for simple stuff like a water bottle is a big pain. Thankfully they had a service card in the room, which has English, Japanese and Chinese details mentioned in the same line, allowing us to take the card to the reception and asking for free services we wanted. During the stay, we were told that there would an additional 100 CNY on the room tariff, as it is a weekend (Nothing mentioned in the booking confirmation). The weekend evenings were noisy, and you get "escort services" cards in your room every evening you come back in the hotel (Dont get into this trap!!, we were advised by our Chinese translator who accompanied us). There are much better hotels in the same area. Do not book this place if you are travelling Shanghai.
For a business trip this doesn't deliver - most basic, almost nothing in the nice looking room, no glasses or teaspoon (given some paper cups) worn out towels with stains, (certainly no fridge or bar), no cabinet, only two hooked with some hanger, lan provided with a poor cable, no WIFI in room, WiFi connection at lobby is very poor - impossible to skype or google hangout etc.
It is very well-located near the old town of Nanxiang, but there are many more hotel in the same area. Priced at 239 without breakfast, need to pay a deposit of n+1 night of the room price, compared to a nearby smaller hotel of 149 with buffet breakfast in the next door restaurant, with fridge minibar and WiFi in room. Most Chinese stays here because of having their membership with discount and other offers. Reception is poor and not helpful, cannot even give us simple advise as the direction to get taxi for train station. The manageress is particularly bossy, and stop us from taking photos in the lobby. We had chosen this mainly impressed by the nice lobby and higher price, thought that higher price should be better in China, but the high price here is not worth beside, for foreigner, it save us trouble to sign a documents for the purpose of the police record as required by most hotel.
For couple or family trip, this is not too, though the lobby looks elegant and there is pc with internet access and a shoe cleaning machine. We were fooled by this good impression and find that the room is too basic to be comfortable. Our room is twin, but one bed is only 1 m width and one is 1.3 m, too small. air con circulation is poor, thus we have to stay under the blower for the temp.
breakfast rmb18 per pax, children count, heard only below 2 yrs old may eat free. Food is most basic too, simple cold bread, low quality butter and jam, some cakes which taste like flour, fruits: only some bad taste oranges, both always remain untouched in the often full house restaurant. other than this is porridge and Chinese bun, fried rice, some salted vege and very low quality sausage slices without meat taste. Yet you can often see the manageress coming in scolding the staff.
Too many smoking ppl in and out, our room on non smoking floor also have smoke smell, as many smoke in the corridor and also in the lift. of couse also at lobby.
So, a place if you just need to sleep for the night and do not mind the price. Not so good if you'll be spending any awake time there.
