My third visit and I'm more an....
Melia Vienna is a hotel I have visited three times now, because of it's location close to the VIC, where I have to work from time to time. My first time was great, I had an upgrade on the room and was overall impressed - great design, nice carpets - very stylish. Already at my second stay - in a regular room, it started off badly. It was in the winter and the area has a severe wind issues : that is during night time, if it is windy it is really really loud to the extend that even the furniture inside was making cracking noises. I finally changed the room towards a lower floor - in the middle of the night for it was impossible to sleep. Room service was slow. Food was .. below average. Too salty soup, salad drawning in sauce. Check-in and check out time intense. This time however, just last week infact, I was really disappointed. Again the noise, TV not connected - had to check for housekeeping who explained at lengths how next time I could fix it myself (at 22:00 not what you want ..). Breakfast - really, don't waste your money on this: below average, really. The choice is super boring (how can you serve melons and oranges as main fruit if there is fresh local fruit&berries all around you!), the service is bad (tables not cleaned up, cups missing at the coffe stations, forks missing to serve the ham and salmon, eggs disgusting). Then I seem to have forgotten a t-shirt in the room. After having called the hotel, the reception promised to check with house keeping and get back to me on the number I have given them. This is now two days ago and I have not heard back. Really: this hotel needs a better management. Won't go there anymore for sure - there is enough competition around the corner.

High Rise on the Danube
I stayed here for the first time, and it'll definitely not be the last time either.
Normally, I'd start with checkin, however this time: first impression. And it was awesome. I knew it was in the same tower as my client, so high rise building overlooking the Danube.
Getting there was easy by taxi, right off of the highway, about 15min from the airport. Dropoff is in the basement parking which doesn't do duty to the rest of the hotel: the arrival setting was OK-ish. They could do a bit better to make the parking arrival area nicer (carpets, better signs, some fancy lighting).
However once inside, the hotel team was very nice and helpful, checkin was a charm of 5min (well, I arrived late night and was the only one..)
The room had a feel of dark luxury, shiny granite bathroom, modern-style. Amazing shower, huge and a direct view of the bedroom (fancy). The bed was fine, nothing special though, and across from the window, so nice views. Minibar was a bit on the high side, and there wasn't any free water (bakery and coffee shops are 2min walking during business hours). Internet was fast and the work station was sufficient - business hotel style.
I'm not over the moon with breakfast, however: the variety of items at the buffet was huge and well-organised, but I have my doubts about the quality (the scrambled eggs looked like a huge light yellow blob, soggy and cold -- just too much in the bowl and not done with love...). However there was cereal and fruit, so the day was saved. Also, in the middle of breakfast time on day 1: someone had to vacuum clean the floor one level down and through the large staircase opening, it was really loud. On day 2, someone pushed a large industrial cart with seat cushions right through the breakfast room and in between the tables (???) as of there was no other time than doing this at 7AM!? That being said: breakfast team was super attentive and friendly, however (again operations): signing the breakfast cheque seemed to have been more important than letting the guest eat in peace.
So as a conclusion - Yes I will come back, small things may be improved, add some more love to food-making, a bit more guest-focus in overall operations - and it's actually a really good hotel :)

Not bad but not as great as ex....
The whole hotel was stunning, but when it comes to amenities etc you expect more from a 5 star hotel. I’ve been in the ME London which is a Melia hotel as well and it was way way better and the way they treat the guests was way more special.
Also I’m part of Melia Rewards and my card is silver, which makes you have a free breakfast for your companion. So apparently that doesn’t work if you want the breakfast in your room instead of going to the restaurant, even though paying the room service to get it in the room. We were pretty upset about that.
In the room you only have the small bottles of gel etc and a kit with a bunch of useless stuff instead of at least the tooth brush and the razor.
The building is gorgeous and the view is stunning but we are disappointed about the rest of the things.

Quiet, comfortable, functional
I spent three days in the hotel, which is situated in the highest skyscraper in Austria, the DC (Donay City) Tower. The Melia guestroom I stayed in was spacious, squeaky clean, very comfortable and quiet. Huge floor-to-ceiling window. Excellent bad, bathroom amenities (no slippers), hairdryer, flat-screen TV. You can adjust room temperature, ventilation, lights... Nespresso coffee machine (with 4 free capsules per day), minibar., safe, work desk. Some additional services offered. Food at the "Flow" restaurant is excellent- Conference room is on the 1st floor, the restaurant is on the ground, while reception is -1 floor, so it worked great. You don't even has to use elevator, because there are inner stairs conncecting these three floors.

Good hotel but in a bad locati....
It was a nice hotel to say with good food and atmosphere. They do not really give you all the services for red level unless you claim for it. The nespresso capsules were not present in the room unless you ask for this.
