The Firs

Remove the TVs and you'll be transported back to the 1950s and 1960s. While I haven't lived through those decades, I'm certain this is just how it would feel. We stayed for only one night, and it was a beautiful experience. The property is surrounded by lovely gardens, and the decor is pure vintage. I would recommend this stay for the nostalgic atmosphere alone.There’s no air conditioning or fan, just a heater in the room—which adds to the vintage feel. The WiFi is decent, and the big, soft bed made for a comfortable night’s sleep. Breakfast, which was included, was just okay and was the only meal we had here.The place offers a warm and cozy stay with not much to do nearby. You can unwind in the bathtub, take a peaceful stroll in the garden, or simply relax in the glass-ceiling sit-out or play a game of billiards. It’s a good choice for couples and families looking for a quiet getaway.The staff is helpful and non-intrusive. The property has an interesting history—it was once owned by India’s first Prime Minister. Be sure to ask the manager for more details.The best time to visit is during the rains or winter, when the surroundings are at their most charming.

Choice for break fast, lunch & dinner was very limited. No menu card was available. Rates of bf, lunch & dinner were on higher side. Location of hotel-is good. It is well maintained despite being 100 years old. Furniture provided is antique but well maintained. Rest stay was comfortable.

Beautiful property, not that far from gregory lake. Well maintained. Special highlight was the food, we were in awe to eat indian food in sl that was delicious. Way way better than restaurant. I would definitely recommend this place.

We had this property booked for our recent visit to Nuwara Eliya. The vintage style rooms with jacuzzi ,attached back garden along an amazing mountain view creates an ideal serene environment for a relaxed vacation . If opting for breakfast they offer multiple variety of breakfast of your choice . Staff is pretty friendly and polite. Highly recommend.

Fantastic stay and superb service. Good food, nice location overlooking the lake, good large rooms with large bathrooms. Made our stay very comfortable and memorable.

Rooms are very good. Contemporary style. Food is good over here. Property has 6 rooms. Rooms are big and comfortable. Hotel manager mr sudarshan is very helpful. A little away from the down town but very near to gregory park and lake

The stay at the firs cannot be expressed in words, it is an experience in itself. Located in the vicinity of tea plantations, it is an eye catching one. The staffs are very friendly and helpful.

Super nice fantastic wow

It was a beautiful property with pretty large and spacious room. Room - 10/10, very large, clean and perfectly kept. The colonial style of all rooms was very unique and beautiful. Service - excellent service by staff and especially hotel manager, sudarshan who made us feel so comfortable. He was also able to arrange a cab for us from mirissa to here and from here to colombo at a decent price. Also guided us what to see around. Food - was good, had all varieties ( sri alankan/ english style) and service was quick and timely. Overall, a beautiful property with an interesting history of ownership ). Would definitely come here again !

The Firs bungalow is The most beautiful place I have ever visited for a stay. The location is enchanting. It's far from The main hustle bustle of The City, even upwards of gregory Lake. The entrance is lavish, with a Long private driveway. As soon as you enter, The main hall will leave you spellbound. The decor is mesmerising. Vintage feels, I must say. The rooms are extremely cosy and so beautiful that The whole experience has stayed with me. Every little detail was amazing and drool worthy. From The cabinets, to The vintage telephones. The most attractive corner was The fireplace (electric). Just one downside, I felt it was a bit expensive as without The breakfast, it costed me as much as a 4 star hotel in Sri Lanka. But considering that Nuwara Eliya is a hill Station, steep prices can be considered. It's an amazing place to stay.

Ideal location very close to Gregory Lake and prominent restaurants and other must visit places. View is amazing and the amenities just make the stay cozy and warm. Staff and owner are very welcoming and a warm cup of tea (welcome drink) made our day after a long drive.

The Firs is like going home but a royal home. The rooms were spacious and The place had a beautiful garden. We could See The gregory Lake from The hotel and it was mesmerising.
