My husband and I stayed here for three nights during our honeymoon stop in Berlin. The travel agent booked this hotel and being a Mercure we decided not to change hotels unfortunately I wish we had. The hotel exterior is very old and unappealing, once you’re inside it does improve, although the elevator leaves a lot to be desired.
The hotel is close to the main roads, has a tram line right outside and It is an easy 5 minute walk into Alexanderplatz. The check in was easy and the gentleman was nice. Our room was quite large almost studio size. The ensuite was old and dated but with ample room. The bed was very comfortable however the pillows were not so made for a rubbish sleep. To make sleeping worse there is no air conditioning and it was needed so we had to open the window. The street noise was incredibly loud and we were woken by so many sirens.
Overall it was an ok stay however we probably wouldn’t stay here again. 2.5-3 stars, just!!!

Nice Location ... big room .. ....
When I booked the hotel .. I was all about to be next to the center for my work, next to Alexander Plaza .. Mall .. Starbucks and electronic store ... before I tell and describe you the room and so on ... I walked in to the hotel .. straight to the front desk and said: Hello Im here to check in, Im Ramsey Spencer and here is my passport.
The reply was : JUST WAIT TILL THE STAFF CHANGE SHIFTS !!!!
I was : are you kidding me, I came from 6 hours flight and you telling me wait till they change shifts, instead of you to great me or say how are you ... or even offer glass of water while there is no one to check me in ?!?!?!?
Even a hostel say how are you today sir... anyways, I didnt say a word, I just waited and kept my mouth shut.
Lets talk about the hotel it self beside the changing staff drama, its old building .. but the beauty of it .. the rooms are huge ... really big .. bathroom clean .. I had a nice view even I wasnt on the top floor .. over all its really nice room cause of the size .. the was ok .. not much going on .. cause you can just get anything from the center really and come back to your hotel.
Do I like the hotel ? its ok .. Location .. amazing .. and easy to get to and if you get a deal from your flight package to book .. do it.
Small tip for the hotel manager: just tell your staff not to say such a thing : staff is changing shifts when they cant wait to get to their room and shower and rest, cause if you are in my shoe tired from 6 hours trip and want to rest and someone tells you: wait till there is staff, you would be a little annoyed from hotel point of view.

Tired and In Need Of Updating
From the outside the hotel looks tired and is in what looks like a run down part of town. Inside is better although the rooms need updating from the brown decor. Good bathroom, shower and comfy beds. Surprised to have a kettle in the room but a travel one so took ages to boil. Breakfast was better than expected with a wide variety of choice. Not as close to the centre as I thought but tram line outside. No air-con which was an issue as the weather turned very hot so the windows had to be open which made the road noise very disturbing especially the sirens that were frequent. Good views of the Berlin Tower from the balcony. Staff pleasant enough and lockers for left luggage. Maid entered the room without waiting for approval at 9am on day of departure which wasn't appreciated when checkout is by noon! Overall a pleasant enough stay but improvements would be needed if I were to stay again.

The hotel is old and very run down, the rooms are musty and very old. Bedding was placed on the bed with a small duvet placed on the bed which was thin with awful pillows. Of the two lifts, one was out of service while the other was working not on every floor. The control for the lift was hanging off the wall by its wires. There was little in the way of security into the building and on to each floor. All in all, atrocious.
