This is a great hotel with really friendly staff and great features. The hotel gets all the basic things right and much more. The hotel was clean, well organised and the nightly turn down service and chocolates are such a simple touch but make the stay more welcoming that most hotels.
Like all hotels in Zermatt, the shuttle service provided gets you to and from the train station upon your arrival.
The staff are knowledgable of the area and give you great advice of where to go and what to see. Also, with it being only a short walk to the centre, everything is close by, whether you're skiing, hiking or going to a restaurant.
The wellness centre is a fantastic experience in the hotel. You get to the end of the day and time in the sauna and steam room make for a relaxing start to the evening. The hotel also offers Massages, Carole was warm and friendly and my other half and myself felt relaxed afterwards.
In the afternoons, the Hotel puts out tea and biscuits for its guests, which i found far nicer than the basic tea and coffee that you would normally get in your room.
The evenings are also a lovely experience, with the fire going and a comfy seating area, drinking a glass of wine before or after a meal out is a relaxing winter warmer.
I would definitely come back to this Hotel and the family feel of this hotel is really nice. With only 20 rooms your certainly feel like you get the personal touch when you stay.
Thank you for making our stay so warm and welcome

Excellent reception service
A very warm and welcoming hotel - not the prettiest in Zermatt but all the same, décor throughout was nice and the bedroom was clean and of a good size. There was plenty of shampoo, shower gel and lotion in the bathroom and dressing gowns on the back of the door. Sauna and steam room available on request. Unfortunately having paid extra for a Matterhorn view, the weather was against us and we didn't get to see this famous mountain during our 24 hour stay. Food was adequate in the morning, scrambled eggs and bacon alongside a continental breakfast.
**Highly recommend seeking out the Läderach chocolate shop and Restaurant Schaferstube if you enjoy lamb!

Small personalised Hotel
We recently stayed at Albatross for one night and had booked 2 rooms ..It is a nice small hotel with comfortable rooms .. Since Zermat does not have cars , if u inform the Hotel , they send an electric vehicle to pick from the station ..
Our rooms had a beautiful view of the Matterhorn , though all rooms may not have the same .... The hotel is walking distance from the Main Street via the church bridge and hence comfortably located ..
A definitive improvement for the hotel is morning breakfast . They had limited options . Also we had to ask for Tea / Coffee electric kettle in the room , which was then provided ..

Comfortable weekend with famil....
Booked this hotel for a long weekend. Staff very friendly, room comfortable and quiet, breakfast good with nice selection of eats (they also had bacon & eggs, a plus in my hotel rating book ;-). A little pricey but maybe due to Zermatt and weekend we chose. One tip: beware the Zermatt taxi mafia: when you arrive at the Bahnhof (train station) you'll be inundated with taxi drivers in their little electric carts - DON'T FALL FOR IT. Hotel Albatross, like practically all other Zermatt hotels, have their OWN electric shuttle to bring you and you bags & skis to the hotel NO CHARGE. Simply wait in the designated "hotel shuttle" area in front the Bahnhof or call the hotel for pickup. If you're harassed by one of the Italian/Portugese/whatever taxi drivers tell them "NEIN, DANKE". The electric taxis are a RACKET in Zermatt and constantly harass pedestrians for rides. They don't even have a meter so HOW CAN THEY BE LEGAL TAXIS???? Somebody paid off somebody here, IMO.
