We had a pleasant stay at Hotel Barabas. The hosts were extremely welcoming and warm — they made check-in smooth and were always ready to help with tips and information about Lucerne. Their friendliness really made a difference and added a personal touch to the experience. The location is absolutely perfect — just a short walk from Lucerne's main train station, the Chapel Bridge, and the lake. Being so centrally located made it very convenient to explore the city on foot, whether during the day or in the evening. The room itself was clean and had a minimalist design that reflects the Barabas - Hostel's unique prison theme. However, it's important to note that our room did not have any windows, which might not suit everyone. While it added to the prison-like aesthetic the Barabas - Hostel is known for, it can feel a bit closed off. That said, it was well-ventilated and comfortable for a short stay. Overall, this is a great place for travelers looking for something different with a central location and welcoming atmosphere. Just be sure you're comfortable with the windowless room (very small window at top) setup if you decide to book!
