Nice hotel

Very clean and nice staff. The neighborhood is very lively during the day, but quiet during the night. The room was small (two people) but enough for a single night in the area and itf had a small balcony.

Decent hotel!

The room was very small but clean. Adequate breakfast. The staff at the restaurant were nice. The staff at the reception were quite helpful. Very good location close to good restaurants and vaporetto stop.

A great stay and great value f....

We recently had a lovely stay here. The hotel is located on the Lido, a short walk from the vaporetto (water bus) which will get you over to central Venice and the other Lagoon islands. Although the hotel is in a quiet residential street there are shops, cafes etc five minutes away. We walked down to the beach one morning and had sand under our soles in ten minutes. We have stayed on the Lido before and you save yourself hundreds of euros compared to staying in central Venice. We found this hotel to be very good value for money. It may not have the most contemporary decor but we both liked it and our cosy little room was spotless. We were on the third floor and at the front - a previous post has mentioned that you may hear the street bins being emptied every other morning. The room was very warm (a/c available) and had a Juliet balcony. Tv / freeview and a modern en-suite bathroom. A nice touch was the bottle of prosecco and glasses sent up to our room after returning from our first day of exploring. The hotel has a bar and outside seating areas - a bit chilly to use in March though! Breakfast is served from 7:30am and we enjoyed it each morning, there’s a good range from the continental buffet. You can pay a little extra if you want bacon, toast etc. The standard of service was excellent throughout, although we attempted to use a little Italian, they all were fluent in English. Don’t forget the tourist tax if you stay in Venice - it’s only a couple of euros, per person, per day. Great hotel, great location, great value.

An honest review

Is the hotel dated? Yes. Does is affect your stay? No. To be blunt, if you want to spend an extra €100 per night, head towards Rialto or St Mark’s. If you are looking for a great base, then Rigel is your place. We stayed 5 nights from 23 - 28 Feb. Venice was really freezing at this time and the hotel was a lovely warm welcome at the end of a day exploring. The staff can not do enough to help you! The WiFi is really good and the continental breakfast is plentiful and tasty. I cannot daily the hotel for the price we paid. We got the Alilaguna water taxi from Marco Polo at €25 p/p return. When on Lido, we bought a 3 day ACTV Vaporetto pass for €40 p/p and this enabled us to use the vaporetto an unlimited amount of times in a 72 hour period. So, we saved €500 by not staying in the heart of the attractions and for €80 we were 5 water bus stops from the heart of the city. It’s a no-brainer! Again, yes the hotel is dated, but it is an ideal base - for anyone who’d be out exploring all day, who needs an expensive hotel! Clean and comfortable and gets a hi-five from me!

What a great place to stay

I stayed at the Hotel Rigel for nine nights while attending the Venice Carnevale - it was a great decision. The hotel is very nice, the rate was very reasonable, easy access to Venice, and the staff was great to deal with. The water bus stop to Venice, Burano, and the airport is a short walk (5 minutes). You can be in San Marco within 20 minutes. There are plenty of restaurants, bars, grocery stores (Conad and Coop) very close by. Venice is a madhouse during Carnevale but Lido was nice, quiet, and very laid back. The breakfast buffet is the same thing every morning but there are still a lot of choices. For Italy it is actually a very good breakfast. The room itself was nice. I stayed in a single room but the double rooms was much larger. The hotel is in a residential section so it was fairly quiet at night.
