The finest at the best price
After a change of location we happened upon this excellent hotel on Via Rasella, in the heart of Rome. Greeted at the front desk by Peter, we were given an excellent per night rate, and an even more special accommodation on the second (3rd in the US) floor.
Recently renovated the room had many plugs, a first for this trip, excellent lighting, and a window that fronted on this quiet and historical street. Beds were wonderful, sheets freshly pressed, and towels larger than in most hotels. All spotless.
We met the owner, Silvio, at coffee, and had a great chat about hotels and his travels. At the evening Happy Hour we were treated to free drinks as a gift for first night guests. The terrace on the top floor has a magnificent view of Rome's skyline. The mid-May evening light and temperatures added to the ambiance.
Breakfast was more than ample, with plenty of homemade food, and excellent coffees. Every member of the staff was cordial and helpful. Silvio recommended the Hostaria Romana, which we went to twice!
In all, I would recommend the de Petris without hesitation. The hotel is worth seeing if you want to be in the center of Rome but on a quiet street away from the Via Corso and the hubbub there. The Spanish Steps, Pantheon, and Trevi Fountain are just minutes away on foot.
It is the personnel that make a hotel great, The staff here are service-oriented and extremely helpful. Top marks all around!!!!

Excellent location, terrible s....
I was in Rome in May 2017 and had booked this hotel given its location being central very close to the Trevi fountain. However it was unfortunately not the best experience of my life. The hotel is located in 2 buildings and my room was in the opposite wing of the hotel which seemed more like an apartment building. The room looked very old and dusty and the bathroom was very small. Service is horrible. Unfortunately there was a storm at night and there was a power cut. I asked for my room to be changed to the other wing of the hotel which had electricity but the staff didnt assist. I had to sleep through the night without electricity and haul my luggage down 5 floors since elevators didnt work. When I asked for someone to help with luggage at the front desk, the manager sent another lady which was ridiculous! Despite this horrid experience the staff didnt even apologise or offer a discount! Not recommended to anybody!

Excellent location, terrible s....
Hotel De Petris sure is in a perfect location - easy walk to the Trevi Fountain and Colesseum, lots of nearby restaurants. Cheap basic accommodation, our room was large but the bathroom wasn't great (who uses shower curtains due to hygiene these days?!?). Room was clean but noise was an issue - walls were very thin and we could hear everything the people in the next room were doing. Service was disgusting - staff didn't even acknowledge a "hello" and the bloke on the desk barked about six words at me while checking out. In all, affordable accommodation in an excellent location if you can tolerate the condescending and rude staff.

Good location, but if breakfas....
We where staying in this Hotel in the easter holiday. If breakfast is important for you, this is not the hotell you going to stay at. It is in the lower price segment for hotels in Rome, And that really is obvious when you go to the hotell. It is small. that is ok. And the cleaning is OK. However the Breakfast is terrible. I think they should not serve any breakfast or improve a little bit. Then it would be ok for the breakfast. As it is now with the breakfast it is no point to serve it.

Great location but...
Hotel is in a great location!! Perfect walking distance to everywhere. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was good.
However the bed was very hard, the pillows very thin and most of the staff aren’t overall friendly.
