I was expecting it to be bette....
Having read the excellent reviews on TripAdvisor, I was expecting our four night stay at Antwerp For Two to be first class. Sadly, it did not live up to our expectations.
On the plus side, our room was quite large and spotlessly clean. There was a small kitchenette with a well-stocked fridge. Breakfast was left outside our room each morning at the arranged time. Parking was available close by, which was a real bonus. And the location is just a few minutes walk to the market square.
1. The while experience was very impersonal. The owners' daughter let us in to the car park and then checked us in and we paid the bill. We did not meet the owner until the third day when he came to our room to say hello. Check out was a matter of just leaving the key in the room - there was a note with final breakfast which might well have given us further instructions, but as it was written in Flemish we could not understand it!
With no breakfast room or communal lounge there are few opportunities to meet the owners or interact other guests. It's pot luck if you happen to bump into them in the courtyard.
2. The rooms are accessed from a courtyard, which is shared with neighbouring apartments separated by a wooden fence. We were asked to close the courtyard gate quietly to show consideration for the neighbours. Those neighbours turned out to be students who sat outside drinking, playing music and talking very loudly until the early hours of the morning - consideration works both ways! The noise was not conducive to a restful night's sleep.
3. The weather in Antwerp was unseasonably hot with daytime temperatures up to 28 degrees. The only was to let fresh air into the room was via the door, which we did not want to leave open when we slept for security reasons (plus we would have been even more disturbed by the noisy neighbours). There was an air conditioning unit in the room, but there were no instructions. We pressed every button on the thermostat and turned the temperature gauge up and down, but nothing happened - I guess it was broken.
The heat in the room, together with the noise from the adjoining property, meant we had some of the worst nights sleep whilst on holiday for many years.

An adventure getting into Antwerp because of road construction hahahha. The host called us and told us how to get there and offered a good parking place. There was an easy access to the room. The room very bright, clean, and big. For me it was far better than I expected. The breakfast was very nice, came at pre-ordered time in a basked - a brilliant idea. We got good instruction for restaurants and sightseeing. This place is located a kind of centrally - between harbour and and down town. I would stay there again anytime :) we loved this place.

We had a super one night stay ....
We needed a day out from where we live and were lucky enough to find a room at A42 and had a great evening and day in Antwerp. Our host Jennifer was extremely welcoming, help- and thoughtful. The room was super nice, modern, thought-through, well equipped and of course clean. The rooms are located facing an inner yard with a little garden, it is a little oasis of rest in Antwerp's busy center. The breakfast was excellent.

A hidden gem in the city
A surprisingly good stay in the center of Antwerp. The studio was spacious, very quiet, clean and equipped with necessities. It's a hidden gem in the city. This place was centrally located. Close by the water and the MAS museum (walking distance 5 min). The area has a few good restaurants, such as the seafood place "Dock's".
If you stay there, don't forget to get breakfast, it's fresh and very good, delivered to your door in the morning at the time you request it. Just a great stay! Would recommend it.
