We had made last minute travel plans and ended up going to Karpaha Sands for a 5 night stay. Whenever we look for a vacation spot, highest on our priority list is less crowds, great food, little away from the hustle and bustle of tourist spots and cradled in nature and luckily for us, our last minute travel plans worked out great for us. Karpaha Sands is all that and much more. Situated little away from Pasikudha Beach, what you get is kilometres of coast line virtually deserted with only the odd souls in sight. The views are breathtaking and the sandy beach is great. Coming to the Karpaha Sands itself, we stayed in the sea facing tents. These are a must book and you get to live merely metres away from the beach with a great view of the magnificent palm trees and the Indian ocean. The room/suite itself is great and has a great outdoor shower and a bathtub. The Karpaha Sands also a Mammoth Sea water pool overlooking the beach. The food is amazing and you get to choose from Western cuisines and the excellent local cuisines. The hosts are very warm and the entire staff is extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. A special word for Sylvester part of the wait staff at the restaurant. He played a great part in making our stay memorable. All in all, if you are looking for a place which is hidden away from crowds and want to explore the beautiful unspoiled beaches of east Sri Lanka, then this is the place to stay. Definitely planning to return some day.
