Terrible check in service and ....
I was a day late arriving at the hotel, they had charged back to the credit card for non appearance fair enough, but then proceeded to charge me again on arrival the next day before I realised the mistake, but 2 different amounts, the gentleman on the counter was indignant, rude and obnoxious, would not listen or even refer to paperwork receipts we had on hand, just dismissive, I would have relocated but we had another 12 rooms at a different Mecure with no rooms left and the city was booked out, to make it worse the now extra charge for night one on check out I was advised I was charged the wrong amount by the staff on check in for the missed night, I had paid 119 Euro, but had been asked for another 93 Euro and explained on check in the staff had made a mistake, the lady telling me this on check out was the same lady who checked me in and the " staff" referred to as making the mistake.
No Dinner is offered, Room Service is listed, but not offered,
Staff overall seem not interested, Breakfast as a plus is OK

Poor value for money.
We stayed in this hotel just one night on our way to another city, and I'm glad we didn't stay more. The hotel was advertised as "opening August 2017", but as of the end of September it was still under construction. There was trash everywhere in the common areas and parts of the room wasn't renovated at all.
The room itself is decent, but the bathroom is not. Bathroom is small and inconvenient.
Breakfast service was terrible. Arriving 15 minutes before breakfast end time, I found two employees hanging out in the breakfast area and chatting. They told us that the breakfast is already over. After me pointing to my watch they agreed to serve us food, asked us what we want and brought some stuff, but they weren't happy about it. There were construction workers in the breakfast area too.
At check out, I asked to speak to the manager and complained about everything. The manager, Sebastian, asked me what was I missing in the hotel and why I am complaining. I had to explain that when I booked the hotel, the website promised me a brand new hotel in exchange of my X amount of money. I paid the required X amount, but the hotel didn't deliver what they agreed, so this deal is not fair. He agreed to refund 50% of the room price, which was at least some conciliation after all the trouble.
I'm only rating Average instead of Poor because I believe after they finished their construction, they probably cleaned all the annoying details. Otherwise at the moment of our visit, my rating would be Poor.

Coldest nights ever
None of attention to clients feedback on terrible temperature in the room, it’s extremely cold, even when using two blankets being in clothes. Air conditioning is old and works non stable, staff has no reaction on this. Definitely detracting

Old and dirty rooms - ancient ....
The Mercure Hotel Stuttgart Zuffenhausen ist a 'money maker hotel' for the company. They bought an old building and are trying to make money out of an outdated hotel. The evevator is ancient. It does not have a close option, so you wait very long till it starts moving. When it does move, it does not feel good since the elevator is so old.
The rooms: Old. The room smelled and was dirty, especially in the bathroom.
The bed is the worst though: The bed was so hard, I had very bad pain the next morning.

The hotel was conveniently located since we had business meetings in that area. Rooms are not that big but newly renovated. Parking in the street (free) or in the garage (€10,=). Restaurant is very simple (snacks, soup or salade) and breakfast is decent. All in all an ok hotel for one or two nights is you need to be in that area or if you will travel onward.
