Probably the highest level hotel from Zell Am See. Very good view from a part of rooms. A little bit far away from down town but compensates with view to Zell Am See and positioning. My room was very clean and big. Keep in mind that not all rooms are the same.

Beautiful Mountain Hotel
My husband and I returned from our Austrian trip just several days ago. We spent 7 days skiing in beautiful Zell am See.. what a great place!.. and what a wonderful time we had!
We chose Jaga Alm hotel for our stay in Zell am See and it truly made our holiday delightful. This ski in/ski out hotel is situated directly on one of the slopes at 1200-meter elevation and its location provides great views onto the lake. One thing to note here, though: when you come out of the hotel, you are in the middle of a red run, so you need to be a pretty confident skier to be able to ski down the mountain from there. Otherwise (if you lack skills or confidence), there is a free hotel shuttle that runs up and down the mountain (there is a set schedule for the shuttle service).
Also, if you are driving to the hotel, it might be a good idea to have chains or a 4-wheel drive vehicle. During 6 days of our stay, it snowed so much that we had to literally dig our car out and we were slightly nervous about driving down the mountain, as we had no chains (and our car was not a 4-wheel drive vehicle). But it worked out ok in the end :)
Speaking of skiing, you can rent your skis right at the hotel, which makes it quick and very convenient (AND you get a 10% discount as a guest hotel). And there is a ski room right inside the hotel where you will have your own locker to keep your ski gear.
And now about the hotel itself: Our room in Jaga Alm was very cozy, with a balcony and the lake view. It felt very peaceful and we never heard our neighbors. The only thing the room was lacking, in our opinion, is a drying rack. After a day of skiing we had our damp clothing hung all over the room :)
Very friendly and efficient staff who keep the hotel running smoothly and very clean. There was always somebody at the reception desk to answer our questions.. or just to wish us a good day!
And as to the meals, they were wonderful! We were on a “Snow OK” package, with ¾ board: breakfast, afternoon snack from 4 to 5 pm and a 4-course dinner (wow, that was a LOT of great food!). For breakfast you will find scrambled or boiled eggs, several varieties of fresh bread (including some homemade bread!), selection of cheeses, cold cuts, cereals, jams, tea, coffee, fruits, etc. And you can make yourself an omelet, if you feel like it. So, plenty of great food to get you going for the day on the slopes.
Dinner is served from 6 to 8 pm and it’s wonderful, with a salad, appetizer, soup, main dish and dessert. We could barely get up from the table after all that food!
As to what to do after a day of skiing, we were regular visitors of the hotel’s wellness center that has a Finnish bath, bio sauna, fitness room and a rest area.
In summary, we had a wonderful stay at Jaga Alm and would recommend the hotel particularly to people seeking to enjoy a beautiful quiet nature spot away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
If you are the type who likes to find something active to do after a day of skiing, the hotel might feel a bit too remote from those opportunities (due to its location on the mountain). You can certainly walk down to Zell am See and then come back up, but it will take you 15-20 minute walk (and it got dark after 5 pm when we were staying at the hotel). Or, if you have a car, the town is only 5-7 minutes away.
And – as a final note – I want to express our appreciation to the Pfeffer family and the team for their hospitality and making our 7-day vacation wonderful!

Lovely apartment, service lack....
Firstly no one at reception on arrival, first apartment in the basement (almost), corrected and afterwards a lovely newly renovated apartment with a great view.. buffet rather bland - swimming area was nice and great to cool off... generally okay stay

Yes I give a full score. A well-earned five. Not just because of one hit, no, I went back and it was spot on again the second time. And for three reasons: 1. a very nice atmosphere including friendly welcoming warm waiting staff, 2. the Jaga Alm Jause plate that was a total hit after a morning of ski-action, 3. the price/quality. Don't go to the self-service resto's where you will be treated as cattle and get some mash on a plate military style and look for a rare seat in the too crowded canteen. Go to one of the authentic, small places and treat yourself well at much better prices and with a lot better quality!

Delightful family run hotel - ....
We were staying half board, but with apartment type room (2 bed rooms, sitting room, kitchen, bathroom, balcony). The hotel is set up to be relaxed and easy. Ski hire in the basement (good equipment), lift passes from reception, ski school rep came to us. We were the only English family, but plenty of Austrian, German and Dutch families. Buffet breakfast, soup and salad when you came back from the slopes and always a great choice for supper. Would have been ski in ski out but we were very early in the season and so used the shuttle bus from the locker room door. Fantastic views, lovely staff, have booked again for this year.
