The hotel is okay. It isn't great and it isn't awfull, it is just okay. If you are intending on spending all of your time at the hotel, do not stay there. But if you are planning on going back to the hotel just to take a bath and sleep, shower is great (with hot water and plenty of space - sometimes you have to fight to get a towel, though) and beds are comfortable, with clean sheets. Take your own toilet paper if you can! Breakfast lacks creativity. Infrastructure is really really poor, it lacks investiment...things that could be fixed easily (courtains, floors etc)! The guys at the reception are terrible at their jobs, seems like their unhappy and sometimes they are really rude. The girls working at the kitchen and cleaning the rooms are polite and do their jobs well. I recomend it specially because of its location, could get to know almost everything on foot or taking public transportation near the hotel. Do not spend your money on taxis, spend it on food and tourism!

Unsafe area despite cheap room

I stayed here for 4 nights in a single ensuite room. The hotel is located in a rough area comprising small streets with people loitering around. However, it is within 5 minute walk to Calle Flordia and another 15-20 minute walk to other attractions. I stayed here because of the price, location, and comparison of reviews on other establishments. The receptionist was not cheerful and just to do his job. I had my room in the main building although I heard some guests stayed in another building nearby. My room was basic on the 2nd floor with TV and air conditioner. The décor was quite dated. The bathroom was quite cleaned, but the exhaustive fan which attached to the light switch created so much noise that I had to turn it off (including the light) when bathroom was not in use. But then the room air ventilation wasn't good enough. There is a very tiny pigeon hole window in the room. It is good for checking rain or shine outside but not for evacuation. Buffet breakfast was served and the spread was average. There was two PCs in the lobby area where guests could use. I paid what I got after all.

Rough area by night, especiall....

Although centrally located, one block from Av. 9 de Julio, near pedestrian shopping streets (Lavalle and Florida), bus stops and subway stations, the hotel’s street (Suipacha) gets really unsafe after 10pm; one staff member warned me against numerous robberies by night. At this time, Suipacha is under construction, one very narrow path on each side allows the street access; if you are attacked, no chance to escape... Greeting at reception was OK. My room had been repainted the previous week; paint dust remained on shelves, chair and radiator, as well as stains on carpet and bathroom floor. These white paint stains would have been better used to hide dark stains on sheets and towels…! In the morning, the hairdryer didn’t work; “it’s not offered anymore”, answered the receptionist. The private safe was also unusable. The breakfast buffet was correct (coffee/tea, pastries, juice, cereals, toasts) and the waitress kind and helpful. Unlike the receptionist who was on duty the morning I left, not very smiling and enthusiastic when I asked him how to get to my bus stop; he directed me to the wrong place. In short, the Argentina Tango Hotel is not an option if you expect a friendly environment with clean and adequately equipped rooms.

Please Do Not Stay Here!

Do not stay here. I've had better service at hostels. When we walked in, the hotel didn't have room for us and put us in another hotel a block away. It wasn't far, but not what we booked. The room wasn't ready or clean, so he asked us to go for a lunch or something while it was cleaned. When we got back, we wanted to take showers, but there was only one set of towels for a triple room. I called downstairs and the receptionist (who didn't speak English) just said there were no towels because they were all out for laundry. So I had to walk back to the first hotel and ask for towels, then walk back in the streets with 3 sets of towels because that receptionist was too lazy to call over and ask them for towels. There was no where to plug our electronics in because we didn't have adapters and neither did the front desk. We could not make any calls from our room which led to another walk around the block to the main hotel to make a local call. The whole floor smelled of cigarette smoke from the room next door, even though there is a non-smoking policy, they don't enforce it. We know because we called down to complain and they said they couldn't do anything about it. We were told we could be moved to the main building the next day, which they did, except that room smelled of smoke too. In addition, we again got just one set of towels for a triple room and had to ask for towels and pillow covers. The air conditioner/heater did not work, we were told we could open the window, except the support to keep the window open was broken so it would not stay open. We were given a rod to use to keep it open. The cold water faucet of the sink did not work so you had to strategically use the sink so as to not burn your hands. Of the three receptionists we dealt with, one was friendly and helpful. The other two were rude, inconsiderate and just didn't seem to care. Would not recommend staying here.
