Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Washington, DC/Downtown

We stayed there for four nights. The hotel is conveniently located and not far (walking distance) from the union station and the museum area. Breakfast was complimentary for all guests, till 09:30 on weekdays and 10:00 on weekends. However, housekeeping & cleaning service is not daily. We got once during our entire stay. Continental breakfast is basic at most. There is a charge of 55usd + tax for valet car parking per night. There is an excellent irish restaurant just across the corner which remains open till 11 pm. They will take a card deposit to cover for incidental expenses, even if the stay is fully paid for. Now my card has been charged for all 4 nights of my stay for the one night that i parked my car. I had taken this up with the front office. But i am yet to get the charge reversed.

Location: 5/5 if you are coming to dc for the first time or are visiting for exploring the city, look no further. This hotel is placed at walkable distance of 15-20 mins from every monument in dc from lincoln memorial to the capitol. The room: 5/5 the room was one with 2 queen sized beds. Comfortable, working ac, good shower facility, had a lovely view overlooking an old church and the main street. Room had a microwave as well and sufficient usb ports to charge all the devices you want. The services: 2/5 there’s no water bottles in the room, and the customer needs to pay up each time a water bottle is bought from the reception. It’s ridiculous. The food: 1/5 this alone led to the overall drop in points. Breakfast was included in the package but was a total waste of money. Breakfast starts at 7 am. The only things kept everyday were cold boiled eggs, a waffle machine to make your own waffles, cold muffins that felt like they were made a week back and were frankly horrible, some pancakes also tasteless and sometimes some form of meat which didn’t seem like worth venturing into. On day 1 i thought it was just me, but when i looked around almost everyone was dumping food. Coffee and fruit yogurt were only saving graces. The irish channel: 5/5 the saving grace, this resto-bar has an entrance from both outside and inside the hotel. It has good people, good food and good beer on tap. Vegetarian options available too. I literally had my lunch / dinner there daily to the very last day.
