The Grand Kandyan

I have a theory - if the lobby has bling, the rooms wont be that great. Mind you, the view was good from some rooms, but they had a damp smell. The standard rooms are really small. The category above those is decent in size, but smell bad. The foam on the iron board had holes. The restaurant staff was kind and made efforts to customize our meals. Overall: staff was good, rooms not really.

We had booked 3 rooms for a group of 6 people for 2 nights. Right from the check-in we felt the warmth and welcoming attitude of the staff. The amenities were great and I must emphasize the Indian food section was so authentic and exquisite. Initially, we were going to explore other places, but the food was so good that, we ended up ordering room service. The amenities in the room was too good and my parents had a wonderful time at the roof top pool. Though we had a small incident at the breakfast buffet on the last day, the staff stepped in immediately to ensure and prioritized our comfort and smooth check-out. Also, the location is such that, it gives a bird's eye view of the city while providing easy access to nearby places. While in Kandy, choosing Grand Kandyan would be ideal for anyone wanting to experience a peaceful holiday.

The stay was comfortable and the rooms were slightly dated. The second room was a bit scratchy where the paint in certain places on the wall was chipped off which means maintenance is needed. The bathrooms were clean and spacious The breakfast had a good spread and regarding the other meals on day 1 the food was good and on day 2 it was not up to the mark even though we had ordered the same dishes on both days. The hotel manager said that the chef had changed which resulted in the not so appetizing food on the 2nd day. The hotel needs to get its chefs at their absolute best. I think this is a one off case but the hotel needs to take this feedback which we provided to them. Overall the stay was comfortable.

The check in experience was terrible, post 1 hour we were given a room and when we reached the room the sheets were extremely dirty for a property which claims to be a 5 star. We ordered room service since we checked in around 10:30 pm and we were very hungry. We ordered a margarita pizza, which had rarely any cheese on it and was just plain bread. The hotel also shuts off all the lights in the night and also locks the main doors of the hotel which is extremely discomforting and they also shut off the hot water supply at night. I strongly recommend not to stay in this hotel. It’s the worst that kandy has to offer.

The stay was pretty good. The hotel is located on a mountain which caters to very good views all day. The staff was very cordial and provided us with excellent service. Our needs were taken care of, upon arrival we were given a free upgrade to the presidential suite which made our stay extra special. Staff was prompt at all times... The buffet breakfast was very lavish. But for Tamarind restaurant the food was ok ok. Needs improvement. But overall we had an excellent experience and would definitely recommend to friends.

excellent hotel located near all the important tourist spots in and around Kandy. located on a hillock so the views are great. food variety and quality was great.

It was a nice, clean and well located property. Specifically the food was nice and tasty. Location of the hotel is such that you can have the view of entire kandy city.

Visited with family. The property was well decorated and the view is great (around the reception and from room. Requested for an upgrade and got one, and i must say that the rooms were good enough with all amenities. Breakfast spread was decent too. The pool at the 6th floor is quite big and there was a bar at the side of the pool. Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Must stay when at kandy.

Excellent property and location , good and courteous staff

Stayed here for 2 nights with wife and 3 year old kid. Absolute delight of a place. Good value for money. Location is very scenic, staff very courteous and service very prompt. Had great time at pool and bar, which are situated on the hotel terrace. Will definitely visit again the next time I visit Kandy.

I went to the hotel just to be told that my room reservation was not sent by make my trip to the hotel. I had to find another hotel in the last movement and check in there. I tried to check with customer support as well as escalated to their vp customer support. No response. Very bad experience folks try avoid make my trip

The hotel is fabulous and the staff is helpful. Will recommend this hotel to all who plan to stay in kandy.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the grand kandyan hotel in kandy, and while my overall experience was pleasant and comfortable. The rooms are spacious and tastefully done. The balcony in the rooms with the mountain view makes it beautiful and serene. While the hotel's dining options were convenient, the cuisine fell short of expectations. Dishes lacked flavor and variety, particularly in the local cuisine section.
