Below average stay that was not worth the price

soloMy cousins and i went as a family of 7 for a 3 night 4 day trip to cancun and decided to stay here. For a really expensive property in mexico, the hotel had pretty bad service. There is a buffet for every meal, and some dining restaurants around the property. But when we got there most of the dinning restaurants that were nice were reservation only and already booked out for the next 3 days! we tried to get help at the reception, who kept telling us to go to each individual restaurant manager and negotiate, who in turn refused to help us because the restaurants can only be booked. So we ended up eating at the buffet for all the days we were there. And the food was just average, the mexican food was not authentic either. No body paid any attention to is complaining about this, and basically told us they couldn’t help us. We went to the spa, which was around usd100 for an average massage. And while everything is technically inclusive, every waiter, restaurant chef, bell boy, cleaning lady expects at least a usd tip for anything. We tried to book an 8 hour taxi from the hotel which they quoted for around usd1000 (i finally got it for usd300. The club at the hotel was tiny and mostly empty. The drinks are unlimited but have almost no alcohol in them. Overall this was the most disappointing experience ever. I’ve also travel-led around mexico, so i undertook that this is stupidly expensive and totally unauthentic. Would never recommend.
