Really nice hotel and gardens, with friendly and helpful staff. The location is great; in a small quiet Italian suburb and only 5 mins walk from the train station into Venice itself. We were actually much more enamoured with the area we stayed in (soaking up the local culture) than Venice itself! But it depends what you like.

breakfast menu very limited, room in hotel's extension are not as roomy, location excellent, hotel does not have resturant but a few minutes walk away from the hotel you will find excellent pizzerias, friendly and helpful staff.

Finding an economical hotel in Venice is nearly impossible, but how about a opulent 100 year old mansion, beautifully landscaped, with all the well preserved- original decor resembling Versailles in the public rooms ? Now, put that mansion 4 blocks from the train station in a beautiful town just 15 minutes by train from downtown Venice, and offer the nicest double rooms for 100 Euros per night- Wow. We got our room for 60 Euros, so we had the former maid's quarters- cramped space and a little inconvenient, but fantastic value vs >400 Euros at similar appearing 5 start hotels in central Venice. We loved it so much we stayed 5 nights vs our plan of 2 nights. The next time I will go for the better rooms- like the original master suite and pay the 100 Euros. Park your car at the Stucky and let it there, don't fight traffic, parking garages and all the hassel of Mestre- this is the way to stay in Venice and not spend a fortune.
