Vintage beauty

I have just spent a week with my daughter at this hotel and would say that this represents true vintage Italy. Raw and rustic, Italy at it's best. The hotel is run by a family who are accommodating without being pushy. The hotel bedroom was quaint/vintage in a lovely way with pristine sheets and towels changed every day. The food was very good and the views from the hotel were breath-taking. Yes there is a busy road in between the two hotels but if you don't mind a good walk or to hop on the bus then this hotel will be fine for you. We had a fantastic week in a great little hotel set in some of the most beautiful scenery you could wish for.

Antico Francischello and Villa....

A lovely refurbished bedroom with an amazing view over Capri. Delightful dining room with excellent service from attentive waiters. A good choice of menu. Huge starters, smaller main course and lovely choice of dessert. Buffet breakfast with great coffee. Bus in both directions from outside hotel only €1.30. A beach within walking distance along busy road with no pavement and down a long hill, was worth the walk for the bars and restaurants.

amazing views from dining room

Amazing views from dining room overlooking Capri and the bay of Naples plus Ischia. Fab food for 3 course evening meals. Hot offer for breakfast would be a good touch to add to the continental breakfast served. Make sure you can handle steps and going on a bus everyday to get anywhere. You can do lovely set walks from the hotel but must be able to cope with steep steps. The only thing is the rooms which are outdated and some showers are hardly big enough to get into. If you accept that rooms in the Villa Pina side of the road are old fashioned, could be smoked in, have broken and really old furtniture plus wall tiles from decades ago. then you will be ok. The hotel is very friendly, run by the same family for 100 years and a touch of real old Italy. Many guests when we were there said they return year after year and the whole place is absolutely charming. offerign personal service.

A living museum

There are a lot of very good points about this hotel, not least the building itself. First opened in 1909, it seems that it has been continuously added to over the years but nothing has been taken away so that everywhere you look there is some fascinating reminder of old Italy to be found. This creates a delightful ambiance in the restaurant and lounge areas. The food is simply prepared and presented but is absolutely delicious and while the portions may be small they are really ample. Service is professional and polite, not too friendly, but that is in keeping with this Michelin recommended restaurant. Drinks at the bar are of high quality and can be expensive so be sure to check prices before ordering. Breakfast is not so good but seemed to be improving as the season went along. The rooms vary a lot, with some fellow guests having large updated rooms, while our room is very small, especially the bathroom with a shower that was barely usable. The plus side, though, was the the panoramic views over the Bay of Naples. On the down side, the location is outside of both Massa Lubrensse and Sorrento and while the bus stop is literally right outside, the daily use of buses can get a bit tiresome. Both towns are walkable, though. Overall, a great hotel, not so great location but well worth a short visit.

wonderful time

The hotel and restaurant are separate and was undergoing some building work but this did not interfere with our holiday. The food was outstanding and the views, from the very good rooms, spectacular. Staff are welcoming and helpful. We both had a very enjoyable time.
