Four star room. One star food.

Access by bus was a little tricky and the staff proved too few to provide help so we were delayed 30 mins on arriving. You arrive four stories below the reception. There is a street lift of limited capacity and a queue soon formed. Stairs are available for the fit. We had to hang around to see our luggage offloaded and safely away on a hotel trolley because there had been some previous cause for concern. The room was large and clean. Lots of marble and very like a Hilton. I think this hotel used to be a best western. The bath shower was worryingly slippy with no bath mat. Most safes did not work for our group. Air con good, though it had to be turned off at night for quiet which left you a little warm by morning. We had a room which looked onto an interior courtyard so had to keep the curtains closed all the time. Some rooms had views. No balconies. Mattress excellent. Pillows not so much. Rooms were pretty quiet. Passing traffic minimal as newly pedestrianised outside reception. Reception has some comfortable sofas and is OK for gathering a group, but you felt the lack of a lounge. The area is fine for shopping, bars ( TPCO under the Duomo was good ) and restaurants, but it is much more charming in the old town so make the effort to get there. You are charged one euro per coffee capsule and 2:50 tourist tax. The adjacent bar is lovely, full of locals and friendly. Same name but like a separate business. The hotel is fine, but don’t expect them to help you with flights etc. The restaurant is the problem. Mass catering with minimal staff. When full the noise was appalling. Breakfast had one kind of cheese and one kind of cheap ham, watery scrambled eggs and the palest frankfurters I ever saw. The coffee from the machine was drinkable. In the evening the best thing was the pasta. After that it is dishes like frozen breaded swordfish with lettuce. The wine list is short and expensive for the quality. The restaurant manager comes round with a little red cash box to demand payment at the end of the meal for drinks. You must have cash. There is no room account. I tried the usual economy of leaving a carefully labelled half bottle of wine for the next day. Alas I could not find it anywhere, but the manager appeared with a full bottle for us. How generous I thought. Nope. That was another 20 euros in the little red box at the end of the meal.

Chaotic service ,good location

In the modern part of Ragusa which lacks the charm of old Ragusa but near the cathedral and in pedestrian area . Service at meal times was chaotic, particularly at breakfast where the logistics of the layout meant fighting your way through three rows of people on a long counter. Tables were not cleared and you had to eat in the debris left by other guests . Food was ok ish, processed ham and cheese, boiled eggs and small unappetising hot selection. Rooms were clean but minimal and we had several power cuts. Beds were comfortable. Safety deposit box would not work and was not repaired, despite reporting it .There was only 1 lift so you get plenty of exercise walking up the stairs! There is no bar or coffee shop but a bar next door serves the hotel( independent charges) and the barman there was very friendly . Staff were not unfriendly, just rushed. Overall a good base from which to explore but lacking in character and a little tired .

Good hotel close to the modern....

Stated 2 nights in this nice modern spacious hotel situated close to the modern city centre. The old ibla centre can be reached after a short drive or a 30 minute walk. Comfortable hotel, good wifi and clean environment. First time I used this in Ragusa but would not hesitate to return.

Good modern hotel

A good modern hotel, rather functional in style, and a touch impersonal. Our room was comfortable & quiet, but we gather rooms at the front can suffer from street noise. Breakfast was good. There is no restaurant, just a large bar by the entrance. We did not try to eat there but others who did said it was OK. There are plenty of good restaurants 5 minutes walk away. Small niggles: our safe did not work & there was no wi-fi in the rooms the weekend we were there. The hotel is right on top of a very good architectural museum but you do need to ask how to get to it.
