Where do I begin?
Our time at Smart Stay Munich City was terrible from start to finish, in virtually every aspect. We had ordered a double room but arrived to find that two beds had simply been pushed together. The wifi signal was non-existent in our room, a bit better in reception but still frustratingly slow.
However, the biggest problem by far came on our third night, when we discovered that one of the mattresses had become infested with small insects. We immediately packed our stuff and went to reception to request a change of room, but the single member of staff on duty was unable to find us a room and apparently unable to offer a solution. We were told that there were no cleaning staff on site, and received little more than a shrug and a complaints form. We were forced to fork out €200 on the spot for alternative accommodation (fortunately a far better place).
There was no indication of how long it would take to hear back from the hostel, and only after multiple chasing emails on my part did we receive any refund at all (the total refund not even covering the costs of our alternative accommodation).
Absolutely do NOT recommend. Not worth a cent.

Good location and affordable h....
Good hostel with a good location and affordable prices. Walking distance to major tourist attractions, a lot of restaurants and bars around. The only problem I had was that after taking a shower, the bathroom flooded. The front desk gave us extra towels, but the problem didn’t really stop. Besides that everything was great!

Such an accident to go there b....
Such a wonderful atmosphere there at the hostel. Also the bar and lounge area is very cool. This place was great and the customer service was nice. And lastly the showers were super huge and spacious.

Decent Place, Bad Guests
They do not place an age limit on who can stay and there was an old man who snored more loudly than anything I’ve heard. I got terrible sleep at this place. The lockers were good, staff professional, and shower adequate. I would not stay here again because of the issue with allowing older people to use a hostel.

Spent a Night
Went to Munich for my english test and stayed here for a night. Check in for most hotels is naturally at 2PM so I went there around 1:50. There were lots of people checking in so I waited. A nice girl in the reception took my details and said "Your room is not ready yet. Please sit down and we'll call you when you're good to go."
50minutes later, people subsided. People who came in after me were already put to their rooms so I went back to the counter and asked the guy if the room is not ready yet. Rudely he answered, "we're changing shifts. Please wait." 15 minutes later, he called "Check in." I went back there and told him politely "I already gave my details to the girl before you." Just so he knows i've been waiting for over an hour now. He answered me back with "So because you gave it to her, you wont give it to me?"
Seriously?!? Can't he be a little nicer since it's the beginning of his shift? Good thing the guy during my check out the next day is really nice.
As for the room, i booked a general sharing room for 6 people. At that moment, there was only a couple staying on it. The room is really spacious too! The only thing I dont like about it is there were bed bugs, though I had a very comfy sleep.
The place is also close to the train station and walking distance to few good architecture and parks! Lots of restaurant nearby as well.
