Relaxed and Different
We stayed for one night in this lovely little boutique.
Heligonky means "Accordion" in Czech and the hotel has a lot of interesting paraphernalia to the accordion (including a very interesting ceiling in the restaurant- look out for that one :))
Perfect for the one night layover we had there- the area is a bit run down with a strong Slovak community, but we had no issues walking around at night and felt completely secure the whole time.
Easy to get to on the trams from the train station, and 10- minute walk into the city centre.
Room was in the attic with lovely original features- thoroughly clean and plenty of room. Also had the giant Czech pillows that every household over here is graced with (they are MASSIVE).
Staff were cool, courtyard a real sun trap to enjoy Starobrno in the warmth (at 95p/pint).
Breakfast wasn't to my liking, but I am a Brit after all ;P
Would stay again if ever in Czechia's second city!

Close to city center but in qu....
In old industrial part of the town, nice green oasis, with balanced look like, keep old, but apply new. Great apartments, and nice restaurant and beer garden.
If you need accomodation in Brno for few days - do not miss it.

Close to the city centre but i....
The hotel is very near by the city center (like 10 mins walk) but at very bad location. Seems the hotel was a factory in the past that got renovated and turned to a hotel. So the location is in like “industrial” zone of the city. At the time we were there - there was a renovation of the main street and the entire path to the city center was through the area. It is very strange place (as there are not that many people outside) and during the night it is a bit scary. There are a lot of gypsies on the street as well so be careful.
The hotel have very STRICT policy for check in – from 4 to 9 pm so you need to fit in those otherwise you will have to wait. The parking is good and secure. The rooms are new and very well furnished. There is free internet access as well.
The breakfast was very limited and just with few items. You need to check out (strictly again) at 10 am.

Restaurant was a let down
There were four of us in our party and we arrived at around 2pm, we were very sorry to cause such an inconvenience to the waitress who seemed distinctly pissed off that we would deign to order food in a restaurant.
My mother is Czech so there can't have been any problems in translation: we were brought waters that she didn't order, then when we placed our lunch order 4x trio of fried cheese we asked for two with chips but were told it had to be exactly as it was on the menu. They then came back saying we could have it but there was no fried cheese. We tried to get the waitresses attention several times to clarify what we had ordered but she didn't come to our table. When our food was brought it wasn't the trio of fried cheese it was just two slices of the same cheese, the chips were undercooked wedges and the salad had clearly seen better days but has been drizzled in balsamic vinegar to try and cover that fact up.
It wasn't expensive but we expected better service. When we left the waitress said goodbye to my mother but when I said goodbye in Czech se ignored me.
It was good there was a high chair but a little strange there was a picture on the ceiling looking up a woman's skirt.

2nd time here
been here before and pleased to say its just as good as before, parking is secure and its only 15 minutes from town, and 20 minutes from brno circuit. some have suggested it's not in the best area of town but we walked the streets to town, and back and never felt ill at ease. only complaint is that breakfast is late being served on race day, the day you really need to be away early, nothing not to like about the hotel
