A special place ...
... we were sleeping in the spacious room that was dedicated to Mrs Sacher-Masoch ...
Just a little bit outdated but charming at the same time. The bath room was spacious as well. The toileteries were rather simple and not offering the standard we do like.
The breakfast was sumptuous.
The atmosphere of the Palais is overwhelming: We‘ve felt a little bit as Mr and Mrs Duke of ....

Great location. Friendly and helpful staff at front desk. The place has become a bit tired though. They could do so much better than that in a great historic property like this. But it all has become a bit stuffy. And the rooms are bare. I mean really bare. Not a picture/painting on the wall. Not what you expect from a historic property and not what you expect when you check out the pictures on their website. This place needs a renovation and a bit of taste to bring it back to life. Some training of serving staff would also help. Like teaching that they should approach a customer, ask what they'd like once they're seated at a table, bring sugar with the coffee and a spoon for the yogurt. Remove used dishes from the table. Ask whether you'd like the check. Actually bring it when they've been asked. And so on. But my biggest gripe is the wasted potential of this property which is in a prime location and has good bones to work with. It needs a professional approach that counts on a bit of international experience to bring this place back to its glory days.

Might be best in Graz
Excellent staff, big rooms, nice amenities. Location is extremely convenient for both business and taking in the local sights. Local transportation just outside of the hotel. Very close to restaurants and night life. Very good bar.

Classic old hotel
Located in the hart of Graz this hotel is the perfect spot for a city trip. The rooms are dated, but that is mainly due to the fact that the building is old and historic.
The staff is friendly and when we had a problem with the shower head it was replaced immediately.
The complementary breakfast was disappointing. We would rate the breakfast 3 star at the most. There are enough bakeries in the area to get something very nice instead.
Parking the car is easy in the underground garage of the shopping center next door.

Beautiful hotel with small bed....
This hotel located in the centre of Graz is definately worth visiting. The staff is very friendly and willing to help. Beautiful classical rooms. However the beds are not that good. I am too big for this small and narrow bed (192 cm) and not heavy but could feel the springs through the very soft matress. Also the blankets are to small which results in waking up often in the middle of the night since it is cold. The smile at the reception and the great breakfast makes you want to return though.
