Perfect base location if you'r....
We used this hotel as a base for a 16 night tour around Argentina. We only slept here for 8 of the nights of our holiday but paid for the whole 16 nights. This allowed us to keep luggage and belongings at the hotel whilst we travelled. We spent time in the North in Iguazu so needed summer clothing and time in the south in Patagonia and Ushuaia so needed cold weather clothing. Keeping the room allowed us to save significantly on luggage fees on the internal flights and reduced the stress of taking loads of suitcases everywhere we went.
Location wise, it's perfect. Only a 15 minute transfer to Aeroparque (for internal flights) and right in the middle of the city. There's a subway/tube station right outside the hotel.
Plaza de Mayo and Casada Rosada will within walking distance. Cafe Tortoni is literally just across the road.
It's an old building with classic window fittings, so they don't protect much from the noise and the hotel is on the corner of a major road junction. That's not the hotel's fault and it's the price you pay for being central. Soon got used to the noise, but if you are someone that needs quiet then this hotel isn't for you.
We loved the classic feel of the hotel and you can feel the history seeping out of the walls.
As with most of Buenos Aries, the staff spoke very little English, so if your Spanish isn't very good, make sure you invest in downloading Google Translate for your phone.

This hotel is in the middle of everything - and walkable to most (all?) of BA's main sights. Our room was clean and comfortable, standard non-US mid-range quality. The hotel has some cute elements, and we loved the old elevator. But the best part is by far it's location in the center of town, near lots of coffee shops and steps to the Casa Rosada and other main attractions. Very glad we stayed here! One drawback: walls are thin, so the room may be a bit noisy for light sleepers.

Couple in BA
First this hotel has a lot going for it, centrally located and nice pictures. But don’t be fooled! It fails to deliver the main purpose with a hotel a good nights sleep. The rooms are so noisy that it’s like sleeping on the streets. Whatever the other rooms are doing you will certainly hear it.
I tried to get extra pillows for 4 days but nothing happened. The lock on our other window was broken one guy came but was not able to fix it so it was unlock able for all 4 days. After 4 days we changed hotels even though we payed for la fresque for the total duration of our stay.
I have stayed at a lot of hotels all over the world, but no one comes even close to how bad la Fresque is. So do yourself a favor and book another hotel!!
Finally about the breakfast there are not much to choose from no cheese or ham only jam butter and some pastry, they have scrambled eggs but when it runs out they will not make any more so be up early if you want eggs.
Or do your self a favor and do not book

Stylish, chic & convenient
Perfect little boutique hotel tucked away on Avenida de Mayo. I loved the old fashioned cage elevator which transports you quickly up and down. The breakfast / bar room was also decorated in wood panelling to make you feel like you are in a sophisticated restaurant on a budget. Friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for something unique.

Interesting historic property
It's a funky mix of new and old. The elevator is right out of the 19th century. Rooms are plain and clean, with modern bathrooms. Mine was on the back of the hotel and was very quiet. I suspect those that face the very bust street may be noisy. Breakfast is simple scrambled eggs, assorted pastries, fruit and cereal. Coffee was very good. The large main floor restaurant is closed which is a shame because it's on a busy corner. With the right menu it could be a "goldmine." This hotel is a good deal for the price. It's central location makes everything close and the subway is steps from the door.
