We enjoyed our stay here. We had an apartment that provided a kitchen and had a washer and dryer. The location was also close enough for all of the activities in Basel. We walked all over town and had a great visit.

Short city break
We stayed here while on a short city break in Basel, it was very easy to get to with several tram stops within a 5 minute walk. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and with a large bathroom, and the breakfast buffet was decent. While compared to the same price for other countries it maybe wasn't as high a standard, for Switzerland it was reasonable.
The TV had very few English channels but we weren't in the room very often to watch it.
Lots of restaurants in the surrounding area so plenty to choose from.
Seems to be some renovations going on at the moment but we weren't disturbed by them.

Bad Experience in Basel
Nice apartment but not a great location and the hotel staff are terrible!
Upon checkin we were told that breakfast wasn't included but when I booked the hotel it was clearly stated that it was included. No big deal we just went to a local cafe and got food, although the local cafe's are very expensive so the inclusive breakfast would have been a welcome saving!
On the 2nd night in Basel we were locked out of our room when we returned at approx midnight, I called into reception and they had to make a phonecall to the manager so the keycard could be re-activated to gain accress to our room. The reason of blocking our keycard was due to "damage" to a lamp shade in our bedroom apparently occured the evening before. Anyway, the re-activation of the card took about an hour by which stage I was glad to see my bed!
The next morning was checkout and that's when I found out the hotel had charged me (without my authorisation) for the damage to the lamp. I wouldn't have minded paying IF we had caused any damage but we were barely in our room and at the times we were in our room we only slept so it couldn't have possibly been us. The crack in the lamp must have been done previously.
After some minutes of arguing with hotel staff I departed under the assumption that I wouldn't be billed... but after landing home and calling my bank I found my bank balance to be shy of £175!! This was one expensive lamp shade and as you can imagine I was not happy, I have since contacted the fraud team in Santander and I hope that somewhere down the line they can claim this back but I'm not holding much hope.
DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL or if you do then please check everything is in order before they charge you for breakages that you didn't cause.

Been thee for 1 night, likely! They gave me a room not on the main building on the ground floor! Very dark, I could not keep the window open as very noisy but no air conditioning; breakfast ok but the overall not worth the price!

Nothing great, nothing terribl....
This is a mid-range hotel in Basel, which means its pretty expensive when compared with most other cities in neighbouring EU countries. I stayed 1 night for business and was "upgraded" to an apartment in the adjoining building. The extra space and kitchenette was there but not needed. There was no air conditioning and missing towels. The staff at reception were kind on my arrival but the hotel itself was pretty ordinary. I travel to Basel quite frequently and I have yet to find a reasonably priced hotel that exceeds expectations. Hotel du Commerce also fails to do this.
It's not terrible, it's not great and you will forget it 2 nights after you have stayed there.
