Great Stay / Warm Reception / ....

Our friendly welcome was a great start to a great stay. The room size was a pleasant surprise! Very spacious and very clean. The big windows open in 2 different directions which was really nice. As others have mentioned it's right in the area you want to walk around as a tourist. Parking is limited at hotel for 12 euro / night, reserve ahead! If full then there is a convenient under street garage right in front of hotel for 18 euro/night. Pay in machine prior to exiting garage. Try the homemade soups at Die Suppenbar located on Komödiensrasse 9, 11:30-3:30-fantastic!!

Perfect location. Very friendl....

This hotel is all about the location. It’s on the river in the heart of the main set of restaurants and bars along the east side of the river. It’s a 3 min walk to the Dom (cathedral) and to the main shopping area. The 2 guys that were there over the weekend were brilliant. Very friendly and helpful. Room was small but comfy. Didn’t spend much time in there so didn’t matter. The only negative is the noise from the bars below. I had one of the quietest rooms and it felt like the DJ and his speakers were in my room. They do finish by midnight. So best of joining them then going to bed. Would definitely stay there again.

Superb location and excellent ....

Location, location, location. Oh, and large rooms with comfortable beds and nice seating area. Excellent, friendly helpful staff and did we mention the location? Didn't use the restaurant so can't comment (far too much choice in the town, and near the river) Only real downside, parking is a bit on the expensive side, but doesn't detract from a first class experience. And as is usual in European hotels, no kettle in the room!!

How different two nights can b....

Two night Business stay for the trade fair Dach + Holst. Arriving Thursday departing Saturday Hotel is in a great location adjacent the Cathedral within a few minutes walk to the main station. Check-In was good with a most helpful receptionist. The hotel is small but the room and bathroom (211) is very spacious and clean. A little surprised to find the soap bar in the bathroom was left there by the previous guest and not replaced by the maid? No air conditioning Thursday night was relatively quiet, the only noise a few footsteps in the bedroom above and the occasional passing vehicle. The hotel is in a small side street so traffic movements are light. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice. Hot and cold buffet Returned at 6pm, Friday evening all seemed the same as the previous night. Left the hotel for dinner at 7pm. What a change on my return around 10pm, the street had erupted with music beating from an adjacent bar. This would continue I was told until maybe 1am / 1.30am. I was offered an alternative room, not taken on my part. Whilst I managed to get to sleep (on and off) it might be a difficult and unacceptable situation for some light sleepers, beware! On the other hand if you are coming here for the party, and lots of people seemed to have made it there weekend destination, then it's an ideal location

We stayed at the Philharmonie as the location was excellent for the famous Christmas Markets. We had a lovely welcome from the reception (we needed a little TLC as the journey from Calais was not the normal 4 hours, but 8 hours!!!!!) and we were given a room on the 4th floor which to our amazement had a four poster bed and a lovely seating area. Probably the largest hotel room we have slept in for a long time! Fortunately the lift was working! The room itself was perfectly clean, if a little dated, but that was not a problem. Very clean bathroom with a daily service. A big mention to all the staff on Reception who were, without exception friendly and helpful at all times. We had just a two minute walk to arrive at the two most interesting Markets, which were buzzing all day, every day. Great fun and a true German experience. We love Cologne for the shops, food, beer and wine as well as the lovely people we meet. All in all a super pre Christmas getaway and worth the effort to get there.
