$60 for $750 worth of comfort ....
Just stayed here for three nights. It was wonderful -- rooms were huge and luxurious, hotel furnishings and decor of the highest level. It was formerly the government hotel for the highest level of visitors (e.g. Richard Nixon!), but now under private management. We were able to walk easily to wonderful shopping and tourist areas (e.g. Beijing Road, Shamian, QingPing) easily. Hotel desk staff spoke good English (mirabile dictu in Guangzhou!), and hotel food excellent. Our room was larger than my spacious living room in Boston, and bathroom equally spacious and well fitted. It was first class in every way (and even with an indoor swimming pool). Additionally, within the compound is the hourly direct CTS bus to Hong Kong-Kowloon and Hong Kong Airport -- no schlepp to RR or bus station upon departure.
If you go for the international chains, you can pay $750 for the same degree of comfort (but without the international atmosphere). Here you get the comfort and all amenities but at $60 or less. Go for it! Very highly recommended.

Comfortable hotel in excellent....
This a really great hotel in an excellent location - just a short walk from the main pedestrian shopping strip at Beijing Road. Our room was really spacious and the beds were super comfortable - much softer than the usual Chinese beds. We loved the bathroom too - floor to ceiling marble with a rain shower. Some of the staff do speak English - not perfectly but they try really hard!

Good location for subway
Take subway 3 and 2 from the airport and get out at Sun Yat Sen memorial. From there it is 5 minute walk. NB the Tripadvisor map will NOT get you there but send you somewhere else instead, so bring a map, a printscreen from your booking site or have Google maps downloaded before you arrive (does not work in China).
Spacious rooms, very good sound isolation, friendly staff. Almost no foreigners here.
Pool is only open in summer. They put up a sign saying it is closed due to the weather (24 degrees), but it is an indoor pool???
First ever downgrade to a smaller room than we booked, which was corrected later after asking.
Great location to walk everywhere or take the subway.

Ideal for both business and le....
Spacious and well-facilitated room. Ideal for business travelers where you basically don't need to bring any toiletries and power adapters. Hair dryer and ironing equipment are also well in place. Though the staff's English conversational skills might vary, they are generally friendly and helpful. Response time through email or Booking.com are generally very quick. Only setback is the breakfast choices. Chinese food section basically covers the norms while the Western section is generally limited. If you don't mind just having breads, cereals, milk, simple salad and fruits, then you'll be OK :)

Perfect for Business Trip
Very clean, big room. Friendly and nice staff. The pillow and the bed are very comfortable. Reach standard with more than a 4-star level. The best hotel I have ever stayed in Canton, and definitely will be back to this hotel. Close to subway station (around 5mins walk) and Beijing Road (1km), which is acceptable walking distance.
