Review Of Royal Dandoo Palace - Houseboat

Had a wonderful experience with dandoo palace whether the facilities or the view really recommendable and mr. Hafiz one of the staff he really helped the stay to be comfortable. Kudos to the team

Very beautiful

Exorbitant charges, showed different pictures during booking and gave a different room during actual stay. Initially they forced us to stay 3 people with a single bed, after huge arguments we got a double bed although it was not the room which was shown in pictures. The original room in the houseboat was given to someone else and we were way behind in some c grade room.

They had not given the house boat. It’s on the back side second house boat and also the house boat property manager was extremely rude to say we have only this if you don’t need cancel it. Extremely rude behavior with the tourists at the last moment when we were entering in house boat. We had no choice at last moment at all but to accept it and finish one night stay.

Caretaker was good but there was no arrangement of wifi and person who took us to boat tried to extort money from us in the name of shikhara. We denied for shikara but he said that it was his right to get tip.

This houseboat is from ghat no 17, far away from the conjusted ghats. So you will get a calm and quite place to enjoy the beauty of dal lake. The houseboat is very well maintained. The bedrooms are spacious with big beds, mirrors, etc...very comfortable. There is a big dining room , a lounge, balcony and open sitting area. The staffs were very courteous and fulfilled all our wishes. The dinner and breakfast was served as per our requirements and it was great too. In all it was a great experience to stay in this houseboat.

Room was not clean and electricity backup is not there in this hotel. Around 3am the rain had started pouring heavily and suddenly the electricity cut off from the boat house and we had to wait outside of our room until 7am the electricity restored. It was terrible experience for us and we will not opt this hotel in near future

It was a very bad stay at the boathouse, staff was so rude they asked money for every ferry separately. Price are so high as per room. Room was not near and clean. No toilet paper soap was there at bathroom. Very bad experience

Worth to stay at this place. Hospitality is good with proper arrangements. Food can be improved.

Checked out this morning and believe me it was worst ever experience in this house boat. No running water in toilets and washbasin. Water in bathing area was dirty and muddy. No attender was available throughout the stay. It was chilling cold and they switched off heaters at 11. 30 pm. After that no heating facility available throughout night. We keep on ringing bells for help and no body was available. This number provided here was switched off till morning. Breakfast was pathetic. And worst thing was the drop off. They dropped out luggage at ghat no. 17 and asked us to lift that to the vehicle. Damn rude.

Against booking including breakfast, no breakfast was served on last day of stay. fooding was not served. Vehicle for dropping at airport provided by the hotel break down on the way compelled moving with luggage on foot running to catch the flight.

Extremely satisfied with the hotel. They gave us Pickup from the airport and also arranged trip to gulmarg and pahalgam for us. Food was of good quality. we like the location as it is centrally located.

Good houseboat, Nazir bhai nice person. First we have some issues about houseboat we booked but later Nazir ji gave good room in houseboat and cooperated with us. He makes all arrangements for our further trip. I suggest you all to book this houseboat. Overall good experience. Food is good.

I have booked 5 rooms in royal dandoo houseboats in June 2016. The rooms were booked Rs. 4500- 6100 Rs depending on occupancy. When I reached there at Dal Lake, I called Royal Dandoo Houseboat to get information how to reach there. The person on the phone told me to go on Ghat No. 14 and their Shikara wala is waiting for us to pick us. We reached there and shikara wala picked up and we all went for Royal Dandoo Houseboat. After rowing of half an hour or more we reached at a houseboat named Golden Hind. I asked the shikara person we have booked Royal Dandoo Houseboat and this is something else. He said it is one of Royal Dandoo Houseboat's groups houseboat. Which was situated in last of Dal Lake where no water to see only bushes and dirt you can see. No doubt Golden Hind houseboat was well built but the surroundings were very dirty and unbearable. You can not sit outside your houseboat because mosquitoes were ready to take you with them. And the person in Golden Hind offered us 4 rooms only instead of 5 rooms booked. We were with children so left with no choice to stay there. I complained to make my trip but nothing happened till date. So never book Royal Dandoo houseboat or whichever houseboat you book kindly confirm on phone first will they accommodate you on the same boat or on another boat so you can travel with that mindset. And the breakfast we offered which was included in our plan also charged. The person on Golden Hind said he can give only One omelette per person and extra omelette butter etc had charged to us. So it was very awful experience over there.

Excellent experience on one day stay in houseboat, neat and clean & spacious rooms. Nice hospitality. Great experience to live on water. Houseboat staff was very helpful and room service was very good. Must visit stay.

Worse experience. I could stay only few hours. Then shifted to hotel. Actually we never reached Royal Dandoo. Touts took me to some other hotel. Even the person who was on dandoo website address said the same thing. Avoid at any cost.

The houseboat was as shown in pictures at Makemytrip site. It was clean with all amenities. There was a nice small garden where we got off the shikara to get into the house boat. The staff was extremely nice. We enjoyed a delicious cup of coffee at the deck. The view was to die for. Breakfast was nicely spread in the dining room. I wish had some more family and friends to enjoy the place.

Sadly these houseboat folks are bait switch gypsy types. A very poor hotel experience, room smelled of urine, no toilet paper, no heat, sporadic electrical. Dinner price initially was told 500 rupees then told 10 minutes later raised to 800 rupees. Dal lake boat ride paid 1000 rupees typical for 1 hour is 300 rupees. I learnt after the fact. Didn't argue, paid both and checked out ASAP. During the one day I stayed, owner and relative sidekicks tried selling 4000 dollar carpets. This trip to India showed me a very ugly vibe side of Indians. Do not stay on houseboats. Period. Many prior reviews are public relations, I will be careful to read reviews.

The first night was great. Nice room, decent food and very close to land. However when we decided to stay another night, we were made to wait around 2 hours before being told that we were being taken to another of their houseboats. This turned out to be in the middle of nowhere over half an hour boat ride away. When we complained to the owner the next morning he was very aggressive and said that he didn't like muslim guests because they always complain! We told him to put a sign up saying "Muslims not welcome" on his boat. Also the hot water on our second night was brown in colour! So we could not use. We were given a bucket of water instead. Class!
