I recently stayed at Blue Diamond Pune, which is known to be one of the city’s earliest 5-star hotels. While the property has its charm and heritage value, I couldn’t help but feel disappointed with the overall experience—especially when weighed against the price I paid.
Let’s start with the positives:
• Service was warm and prompt, in true Taj fashion.
• Breakfast was a standout – a wide variety of options and clearly a kitchen led by capable chefs.
However, there are several areas that need attention:
• The rooms feel old and not very well maintained. For a Taj property, I was expecting a refreshed look, especially since I had visited two years ago and noticed little to no improvement.
• At the current pricing, it does not feel like value for money, especially considering newer, better-maintained luxury hotels in Pune.
A major letdown was with MakeMyTrip. At the time of booking, I was promised a ₹2000 Taj voucher to be shared via WhatsApp. Not only did MakeMyTrip never send the voucher, but even the Taj reception made no mention of it. When I followed up, both parties kept shifting responsibility. I even called MakeMyTrip customer care, and despite being a Platinum member, I received no resolution or even a call back. Very unprofessional and disappointing.
