1. Hi team, we checked in at 7:45pm on wednesday, and, ever since check-in we have had a disappointing experience. We faced the following issues. it states that the property has a cafe and food will be provided. However, on reaching here we were informed that we will either have to self cook or order from a restaurant from a district that's 8km always from our stay. We are working from here and do not have the bandwidth to cook. Further, we were charged an exorbitant amount for delivery from the restaurant (bill attached for proof) 2) non cooperation by caretaker:
further, when we adjusted to lack of cafe, by deciding to self cook on thursday, the caretaker went back on his words and did not even help us to source food ingredients and groceries. We had to walk for 3kms, in the middle of the work day, in a jungle area, to get food for ourselves as he refused to help us get rented vehicles or get it himself either. 3) lack of room hygiene:
there were ants all around the room and on our bed. Two open sugar sachets were on the bed and there was a black ant roaming on it. This is a highly dangerous safety hazard, especially since the ant bites and can be really painful. We understand that it's a remote location, however we expect cleanliness at-least inside the room. 4) harassment & rude behaviour:
last night we were called up past 10pm by the zostel caretaker and asked to clean the utensils after us - informing us that the property is "self service. No such thing is mentioned on the property Not only did he ask us to clean up at 10 p. M. After not mentioning it the whole day, but also, was very rude in his communication. Further, today morning, we were asked to pay extra money (rs. 300 / day) if they were to clean the utensils. 4) lack of kitchen hygiene:
we were fed stale onion and dated bread for breakfast on thursday morning. This is a serious health concern. More so, the bread was thrown immediately after feeding it to us, which proves our point of it's freshness. Further, in the fridge, the caretaker spilled milk, and did not clean it up for a day. The milk soiled ginger, and other food items on which it had spilled. Moreover, the soiled food items are yet lying in the fridge for being used. We have had the most unpleasant experience throughout our stay at zostel homes karapuzha. We expected better from zostel, since we had a totally contrasting experience at zostel plus wayanad. That too is located in a remote area (15kms away from zostel homes karapuzha, however, the hygiene, food quality, staff hospitality was flawless. We have had one of our best staying experiences and would even consider revisiting. We wouldn't have booked this stay had these rules about non availability of good and self service in terms of cleaning been mentioned on the property We are working and do not have the bandwidth to accommodate for this, hence wouldn't have chosen this at all if complete information was provided to us. Had you reached out in time, we would have asked for a relocation to zostel plus wayanad. However, we are checking out tomorrow morning, and it wouldn't be feasible for us to move now. Please let us know what other compensation is available to us for this harrowing experience.
