Nice place with greenery all around
The location of this place is few km off city which makes it a very calm and relaxing place. There is greenery all around (which is actually true of whole wayanad i guess. Its a walking distance from karapuzha dam which is one of places of interest in wayanad. This is also an ayurveda treatment centre where one can go for spa, etc. The owner dr. Tony was very welcoming and had a ready made plan for all guests to explore important places in wayand. The staff hired by him is a nepali family which was very helping. Overall a 5-star stay. Highly recommended.

Overview of the stay
If you are coming as a group of friends it will be good. If you come as a couple or family it won't be good here. They have tv, but you can't see any channel here coz there's no connection. Safety of the room is good but they don't provide much safety. Hygiene of the room is too worse. There's no regular room cleaner or bathroom cleaning. We could find cockroaches here. That too more cockroaches. They won't provide food during any time of the day. Breakfast, lunch or dinner you can't find any. They are providing tea and coffee. But you can't find milk in it. Because they are providing tea and coffee without milk. Even that is too worse in here. Be bought it and we poured it in the wash basin. There is no nearby shops to get snacks or tea. You need to walk for long distance. And there's no restaurants nearby. After 10 pm you can't go out in road. Coz road has no lights and it's fully dark. It is not safe after 10 pm. Owner of the resort is good. Because he helped to get us car and suggested the places to visit. The only advantage here is it is opposite of karapuzha dam. And other thing is it is centre of most of must visit places. Most of the must visit places are in 30 kms radius from this place. So it may reduce you time. If you need good experience of stay i recommend not to book here.

Thank you so much for spending time to review on us . As you said all the must visit place are very close and that is the main attraction of the place . We are opposite to karapuzha dam entrance and those who wish to vist edakkal caves and other imporant place can stay with us . We prefer to accomodate Family only and we are very carefull about their safety. As you said , after 10 Pm you cant walk on roads as of no lights , its true . This is a tourist area , but there is no night life in wayanad anywhere . its not safe to have fun on roads at night . No shops or town is working in midnight in wayanad . Its a rural district not banglore . We have informed you stricly to close the windows , when you go out of room as our property is located near to coffe plantaion , there may be insets . there arent too many cocorches or insets , its just exajurated . I have personally visited your room and informed you tat the rooms are sealed with mosquito nets and do not open it during night . You havent followded our instructions as you are in a party mood . This is why we infromed you early this is not a property for a bachlor group to chill out . Nobody can belive there is no bathroom cleaning or hygine if you read other 90+ reviews . it cant be belived that we have provided a unclan room only to you .
5 star service
May be you won’t get a star rated room but 5 star rated customer service is assured. The owner dr. Tony is the star of the show.

Property location is good but property is uncomfortable for us they didn't proper clean and property desisgn not planned correctly

The propertry may felt uncomfortable only for you bacause of the time you stayed was a very peak day and the rates you apid may be very high as due to the last minute booking. we always give pridominant consideration to the cleanliness of the rooms and comfort of the guest, which you can understand from our review on any of the online platforms. We have planned our building for an ayurvedic retreat and thus we are working also as for it . So they stay is always preferred for families and people look for calm and quite place. this will not fit for a group of friends who wants to be in a party mood and we doesnt allow it also.

Poor Stay
The hotel ambience is good. Initially they were very curious about our arrival. But upon reaching there, we regret our decision. Basic amenities like bath towels were not provided. We had to ask for a better bucket and mug. Moreover the road to the hotel is pathetic. It is very close to karapuzha dam, still the route is bad. Overall this would be the last time we opt for gooseberry retreat, never again.

Thank you for spending your valuable time to review on us. The road to karapuzha dam is not good, we are very sorry that we couldnt do anything on that as its governament part. Daily 10k people are visiting karapuzha dam, suchippara waterfalls etc but the roads are very bad. Unfortunatley govt is not at all helping us. The raod to the property is good anyhow. After the covid time, nobody was using a public towels and so we have clearly mentioned it i our policy taht the towels are not kept in room and provided on request only. Its a local self govt rule too in our area that has to remove such personal things and we do it also on request. I have checked and informed you that the bucket and mug are not dirty, its just calcinated water white stain. This all will not be a reson of rating us 2* anyhow. As you know its a property ment for people look for relaxation and sightseeing whcih you could have understood from reviews and location. This is not the very best for business travellers those who have work in the cities and like a business class hotel. Anyhow we welcome you again for a hoiliday retreat with us with a better exterience.
A good family stay
groupThe stay was short but memorable. The host was very interactive and always ready to help. Rooms were good and all the facilities as well. The only scope of improvement would be food. They can start providing food at the hotel. Everything was good.

Wayanad with family
Trip was well planned with help of mr tony who showed great hospitality in planning the trip around wayanad. The plan was for my parents, kids so it was well discussed and planned so that all enjoyed. We did not plan for trucking and avoided too much of crowd. Next time we will try rest of places.

Excellent Stay
Hotel is near to karapuza damm, a good place to visit if you like quiet places. Good place for families and clean and tidy and good value for money. The staff is caring and very friendly. I would recommend to my friends and family.

Pleasant stay
Room is located in a calm place near a dam. It is accessible easily. The tourist spots are nearby. All in all a calm and quiet place to stay.
The manager tony is helpful and solved all our issues the room seemed to be sanitised and was in good condition.

Nice place with nice property manager.
Rooms are clean and spacious. The hotel staff are very polite and helpful. Good place for bachelors ad group. My only suggestion is that hotel can improve their backup facilities.

A best practices followed in regards to corona and best place to stay in wayanad
groupGooseberry retreat is a very nice place to stay. They followed all the safety measures according to govt's guidelines. The rooms very spacious and clean. The staff is very friendly. The tour suggestions provided by dr. Roy and argil helped a lot in making our trip awesome.
