My Experience with Hotel Check-In via MakeMyTrip
MakeMyTrip informed me that I could check in 2 hours prior without any issues. However, when I reached the hotel, they demanded an additional ₹500 for early check-in. I explained that I only needed the room for a quick fresh-up before a meeting and would not be staying overnight, but they still refused unless I paid extra.
They even suggested that I cancel my MakeMyTrip booking and check in directly with the hotel. If I had done that, I would have received a 24-hour check-in instead of the 12 noon check-out system under MMT.
With no other option, I had to pay and check in. My mistake was trusting MakeMyTrip’s assurance. Unfortunately, this is not the first time—I faced a similar issue earlier in Shenzhen, China as well.
It seems MMT knows how to mislead customers and make extra money. In India, most platforms operate this way, leaving us to choose between a big bluffer and a small bluffer. Sadly, bluffing seems to be a common practice.
