Lovely property in the true wilderness of Matheran, amid some great food and hospitality.

We stayed at the Dunn Bar House in Matheran at the end of July 2025, and it was such a great experience! The place is 170 years old, and since my wife and I love vintage stuff, this was perfect for us. The staff was super friendly, and the caretaker was really helpful. If you’re into old-school vibes, you should definitely check it out. Just a heads up, there’s no network coverage, so it’s a nice little break from the hustle. It’s about a 30-minute drive to the local market, too. I recommend booking in advance if you decide to stay there. I found a great price on MakeMyTrip!

The Best Place to cut off from the daily chaos of the world, at least for some time. No Mobile Network,No Wi-Fi and No vehicles, traffic. Just you, Nature, Plants, Rains and tracking and some horse poop all over the places. Pretty decent property. Close to the Lake and other main points.Good food and service. Nice Hosts Ratheesh, Nixon, Shyam... Great Experience.

Excellent experience staying at the Barr House in Matheran. Faculties were on point. We were there for the heritage home stay experience and that is what we got. Shout out to the staff and Ratheesh for taking good care of the guests.

Stay was really fabulous and the vibe which they have completely made in vintage vibe with their candle light dinner and tasty food too. It was really connected to nature to have chill and enjoy the vibe

Location is very remote with no accessibility to anything. Food was decent but prohibitively expensive. Also there is no room service now wifi nor any network available. It's hot even now in matheran especially during afternoon and there is no air-conditioners. All in all not a value for money property. It's overhyped!

Amazing location (close to all the famous points) very rustic and old school architecture - amazing weekend getaway from mumbai where you can tune out from everything. Great homely food, great menu. Manager ratheesh is very polite and knowledgeable

Heritage property 170 year old, surrounded by lush green trees, even in summer stay is pleasant food was really good but felt little expensive, but all materials have to come from down so that's fine

The stay was pleasant. Food was nice &tasty. The staff was very polite & helpful. Liked the hotel & surrounding. The road to the hotel need some maintenance. On the whole we enjoyed our stay.

The property is very old so it has got a charm of staying in old bungalow but with that there are few things which should have been improved. Firstly the approach road, secondly the surrounding of the property is just careless and internet connection is only in spot only so either u leave without being touch with the rest of the world or go to that spot to get internet connection. Food is average but rooms are comfortable.

As per paid money it was average experience. Food was ok ok, we ordered pane-er tikka which was not so good. Morning breakfast mung dal chila was good. Resort is not at all like that photo displayed, so don't get foolish with those charming photo

Pleasant experience staying if you book a regular room ask for kapadia room. It comes with forest view. Couple of reviews rated low that ac is not there in the room but fan was sufficient to cool the room. Moreover food was very good in the premises and the staff was very active and customer friendly

150 yr old bungalow built by british amid-st dense forest with a beautiful verandah. Placed strategically, close to the lake and view points. Unlike other hotels, it reserves the feel of a real forest bungalow - no swimming pool, party scene. Food is good, rooms are huge and clean, washrooms are clean.

Everything was just excellent. Location of the hotel, accomodation, food, the antiques maintained at the property is just superb. Staff / service was too good. They have maintained the property very well.
