  • Bajinath Temple

    A renowned religious site in the town of Bajinath, the Bajinath Temple is located around 16 kilometres away from Kausani. Located on the banks of the Gomti River in the Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand, the temple was built during the 12th century and holds great religious and historic significance among Hindus.

    The town of Baijnath, earlier known as Kartikyapura, served as the capital of the Katyuri Dynasty during the 12th and 13th century; and is said to have been built by the Kumaon Katyuri king in around 1150 AD. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Shiva and Parvati were married at the confluence of River Gomati and Garur Ganga. The temple houses the idols of Shiva, Ganesh, Parvati, Chandika, Kuber, Surya and Brahma.
