Mehrangarh Fort History
Rao Jodha (the chief of the Rathore clan and founder of Jodhpur) laid the foundation of the Mehrangarh Fort on 12 May 1459. This has been built as a strategic stronghold to secure his kingdom. Over time, many successive rulers expanded and fortified Mehrangarh and added multiple features like impressive gates, palaces, and defensive structures. Currently, this fort stands as a testament to the Marwar dynasty's power while preserving centuries of history through its architecture, museum collections, and legends.
