Things to Do in Agra

  • Dayal Bagh (Soami Bagh)

Dayal Bagh, also known as Soami Bagh, is an important tourist destination in Agra. The headquarters of the Radha Soami religious order, Dayal Bagh is famous as being the memorial of Shiv Dayal Sahib, the founder of the Radha Saomi Satsang Movement. Founded in 1861, the Radha Saomi Movement infuses elements of Hinduism, Christianity, Buddhism and Sikhism.

The memorial, which is essentially a combination of a temple, church, vihara and mosque was built by Dayal Sahib’s followers to worship him. The Dayal Bagh complex is also home to the Dayal Bagh Temple that stands at a height of 110 feet and is believed to be built in 1861. Set in the midst of a beautiful landscape, Dayal Bagh is visited by many devotees every day.

  • Mariam-uz-Zamani Palace

Located in Fatehpur Sikri, the Marium-uz-Zamani Palace was the home of Akbar’s wife, Mariam. The palace is renowned for its elaborate and indulgent interiors, for which Akbar is believed to have hired the best workers in India to construct. Mariam-uz-Zamani’s palace is surrounded by beautiful gardens and has rich carvings and floral motifs on the interior and exterior, which adds to its charm. Since Marium-uz-Zamani was a Hindu by birth and a devotee of Lord Krishna, her palace is also adorned with paintings of Lord Krishna.
