It was terrible. I would not recommend it to any one, let alone a female solo traveler like me. I was made to use a shared bathroom with a flush system that does not work. On complaining, the caretaker made me feel like it was no big deal to wake up to floating poop of strangers. Worse, they do not even have a bucket for the toilet and this caretaker cleaned the toilet with water from the bucket meant for taking a bath. This place can ruin your entire kashmir experience, unless you don’t mind waking up to a filthy toilet.

I loved my entire experience in kashmir, yet red-house is an awful memory i'd like to forget. First, i am a solo woman traveler and i was made to share a bathroom with an indian toilet, the flush of which does not work. I don't fancy writing about toilets but this was gross. They do not even have a bucket at the toilet site, and i saw this caretaker cleaning the toilet with a bucket meant for taking a bath! when i requested for an extra bathroom, they said their guests for that other room would arrive soon and hence i can't be allotted that one. As long as i stayed, no guests arrived. If you have no issues waking up to the sight of poop floating in a toilet, please go ahead. Much to my misery, my complaints were not treated seriously. I am glad i stayed at pahalgam next and got a taste of hospitality at a wonderful home stay at a lower price sophisticated facilities. This place can ruin your entire travel experience. And no matter you book a room with separate bathroom, your confirmation would be updated to room with a shared bathroom!

I am so happy to stay red-house near dal lake. Owner and care taker are also co-operate us. It's environment is so good. 4. 8
