As returning guests and expats from North America, we had fond memories of our previous visit. Unfortunately, this stay fell short of our expectations for several reasons.
Upon arrival, we were first assigned a room with a queen bed, despite specifically requesting a king bed to accommodate our 3-year-old. To make matters worse, the room had an insect infestation. We were then moved to a second room, which, while vintage in charm, was in poor condition—ant-infested, cobwebs in corners, and a visibly damaged bathtub with a non-functional shower.
After expressing our concerns multiple times, we were finally moved to a third room. While this room was cleaner and more acceptable, it still had a broken TV, which was disappointing.
Additionally, one of the highlights of our previous stay—the horse chariot ride that our little one particularly enjoyed—was no longer being offered. This change was never communicated during booking or check-in and was a big letdown for our family.
We understand the property is historic and comes with its quirks, but basic cleanliness, maintenance, and honoring room requests are essential. We truly hope these issues can be addressed to preserve the legacy and charm of Lalitha Mahal for future guests.
