Review Of Kolam Homes

The stay is in the middle of the town, very near to Madhurai Meenakshi temple. Not recommended for people having knee issues, as the room is in the 3rd floor and no lift/elevator is available. Proximity to the temple is what is appreciable.

My rendezvous in Kolam Homes was by and large a pleasant one. The rooms are very spacious and exquisitely done. It's wonderfully located very close to the world renowned Meenakshi temple and in the midst of a busy commercial and marketing area. After temple visit one can enjoy local shopping. A great attraction for especially ladies folk. All the sightseeing and places of interest are located nearby. The courtesy and hospitality is good. However the negative things that could be mentioned are 1. There is no lift and one has to climb number of steps along narrow pathway devoid of hand railing even to reach nearest rooms located in first floor. There is no car parking in case you decide to drive down to this place in your own or zoom car. However, taxis such as Ola/Uber are easily available.

A vintage looking home stay with spacious rooms. The rooms do come with the view of the main temple. The staffs are courteous and helpful.

Fantastic stay, best place in Madurai, no restrictions, home-like feeling.

The taxi driver struggled to locate this hotel. It's midst of clothing market street henceforth too noisy and crowded. There is no ventilation in toilet therefore it is stinky with foul smell. No proper break fast. The room service boy didn't provide bread and butter after request though there was bread and butter in refrigerator. I am also attaching few pictures of toilet. Please check this before booking.

There is a narrow steps to enter hotel. And the hotel is totally different from what you shows in the pictures

I was expecting a homestay that resembles what I have seen on the website. I was disappointed to see a narrow congested pathway that reminded me of some movie scenes in Dharavi. Despite they offered paid to park at the time of booking, I was asked to find own arrangements to park my vehicle. Thanks to MakeMyTrip for sorting out the issue. I was again disappointed when I learned that I have to arrange the basic things like drinking water, bathing bar etc even though they charged a few thousand for a night stay. We couldn't lock bathroom doors as it was already broken. There was no lift available to stay on the third floor. There was no assistance to carry languages at the time of check out from the 3rd floor. Neither the manager nor the caretaker understands English. Overall it was not worthy

Very good room service provided during my stay

From outside it looks like an old house but inside you will get completely surprised. Very clean. Caretaker service is very prompt. From the terrace you will get a view of Minakshee temple, it is at a walkable distance from the room. Overall I am fully satisfied with the room and service. giving 5 Star.

Rooms are good and clean for family stay. No specified car parking and no lift to reach respective floor.

It was a wonderful stay. The hotel has supportive staff and food was tasty. Rooms were a little bit congested. This property is recommendable.

Peaceful stay. But no lift to reach 3 floor. Old age people may find difficulty.

No elevator no food in hotel. For food have to go down outside. Breakfast provided not good. Not recommended to stay.

A very pleased and pleasant stay.
I like the furniture of the room, light a big day. It is really well maintained. House keeping and room services are at best. Would like to suggest to add of soaps and shampoos in the bathroom. Overall it a beautiful experience to stay in this old house vibe.

This place is well within walking distance of all points of interest in this area the temple, madura specific shopping area, eateries, and public transportation. However, if you travel in a car, note that there is no parking around. Since this home stay is right in a busy street, getting on street parking is near impossibility. Also, if you travel with elderly it may be a problem, as one needs to climb nearly 50 steps to the rooms however, the staff informed me that a new room at a much lower level would be ready in a few weeks. So, it may not be a problem. Overall, a good convenient place if one travels light and wants to explore madurai by foot or public transportation.

Totally loved the place including breakfast. Kind gesture by care taker. Neat and clean rooms, easily accessible location, good view from terrace. But ventilation is not good in room. Particularly in bathroom.
