Review Of Jungle Retreat Wayanad

I had booked a double bedroom cottage through makemytrip (paid rs 21, 543- )but got a much inferior one bedroom cottage after a lot of requests since the resort was fully booked, for which the resort is charging rs 3000- per person, immediately i informed makemytrip through e-mail, but my problem has not yet been resolved. So, i had a very bad experience both monetarily and holiday experience wise (the resort people clearly told me that they have not received any confirmation from makemytrip regarding my booking)

This the best resort i have seen for wildlife enthusiasts. The owner has large land area, right adjacent to national forest. The resort is at one corner of the land, overlooking a valley with a small waterbody. The owner left most of his own land as untouched forest area. As a result, animals come to the owner's private land, attracted by the water body to drink water. This gives you animal sightings, like tigers, leopards, elephant, deers etc, right from your room. This is what makes the resort exquisite (btw, leopards and tigers will still depend on your luck. I have read a lot of reviews where tourists say that the night drive is through the public roads only. It is true. But the difference is that the guide knows the routes taken by the animals, so he stops at right spots to find the animals. It is fun and thrilling experience. There are a set of tourists who come very regularly to this resort. There are a lot of stories to hear from them. And the good things about the resort ends here. The food is very average. It's tasteless at best. Options are very limited. At least the food seemed healthy. The rooms are okay. Not worth the price at all. There were no shampoo, electric kettle, tea/coffee in the room. You would definitely expect these basic stuff at this price. Also, i have a theory: a hotel/resort is good if all the bed sheets, towels etc. Are white. Because keeping then clean is a task. But here, all were dark colors. The staff and manager manu were very cordial. Manu tells you multiple stories which makes your experience of staying very thrilling. You can also interact with the regular customers staying with you and listen to their stories. Whenever there is an alarm call of other animals about tigers coming in, or any other sighting happens in the resort, manu comes to every door calling you. Service is also decent. I had ordered french fries, and they gave something kept cooked some time back. It was cold, seemed soaked in oil. When complained, they replaced it with freshly cooked egg bhurji. We were happy about the promptness. Overall, they cater to very specific customer: wild life lovers. They love the resort and come back many times. Because you won't get similar experience anywhere else. For other customers, either they will turn you into a wildlife enthusiast, or it will not be a worth of your money.

View from our room was good. Safari ride was good. Good hospitality. Overall food was good.

Proximity of the property to the wildlife is their usp and with the experience and love of host and staff with wild life makes it special for everyone staying their. The siting of wild life gives goosebumps but then that's what is the real experience too to witness real wilderness.

I stayed at this property for 2 days. Property is located in beautiful position and easy to access. Staffs are very good and well behaved. In my opinion, they should concentrate a bit on room cleanliness and food availability as per guest choice.

Let me be clear it's a good property but you get these properties for much much less. Yes you can see deers and elephants from your cottage but you can see that on the road as well inf-act more on the road. While food was good its not worth the price. You have zero options. You eat what they give. They offer safari but it's nothing but driving on public roads at night. There is a stream they take you to but it's again something you can do buy your self. There is a charge for every thing nothing included no activity, not even a coffee. No room service you need to walk all the way down for every single thing. Anyway there are far more better properties around with better price and more flexibility. Don't worry about wildlife sights you can see it on the road and there are multiple got run safari around and they are the only ones allowed to take yoin the jungle. Every resort will tell you last week they saw a tiger. Dont be fooled.

One of the best private property to enjoy forest and wildlife. Property sits inside 61 acres of land and sharing border with tholpetty wildlife sanctuary. Host anil is a naturalist and he explains about wildlife with great intrest.

We drove from bangalore with our little 3 year old and parents to mark their 40th anniversary. Wanted them to have an adventure and they definitely had it. You have to understand that it is bang on the top of a hill in the middle of a jungle. So you can't expect 5 star features. The rooms are neat, clean and tidy. The food was just awesome. We had to ask the cook to tone down the spice as we had a child. The main usp is the location and their staff. Manu, anil and vishnu are an awesome team. What stories they had, you can feel the love for nature in them. The experience of hearing the tiger growl at us just meters away was so exciting, night safari was another adventure. Bonfire night is pending, hope next time rains stay away and we can enjoy that as well. You guys keep up the good work. We will be back!

We enjoyed the stay like our cousin's home. Very friendly staff. Food was delicious. Hospitality really amazing. Wild animals were Around the property. Wonderful vacation. Thank you very much Manu, Anil, Kumar and team. Anju, you are lucky to have these professional and very pleasant employees. Will come back and recommend your resort to my friends and relatives.

I happy to good food and room also

The two nights we spent at Jungle Retreat Wayanad as a family during October 2019 shall forever remain etched in my mind. The ambiance, the food, the staff. You name it and the pleasant experience starts returning back. Our first sighting of a tiger in the backyard of the resort courtesy Manu who offered a ride in his vehicle for an evening outing was an experience to be treasured. All in all the sheer feel of staying within the Jungle itself was rejuvenating of sorts. I Am sure we shall be drawn to JRW in future for sure!

Location exquisite lot of wildlife sighting right in the backyard. Staff is excellent. Food is good. Rooms adequate. Management very enthusiastic and cooperative. Activities are easily organized. It is exactly what it is called wildlife Retreat. Will definitely go back there.

Food is awesome, some of the great Kerala food I have there, be it chicken, fish, paneer, and Kumar always serve with smile. Location is to die for you to live, it’s in the middle of the jungle, you can hear the animal sound and spot the animal from your room. Can’t be better placed for jungle lover and don’t forget to go on the jungle walk with Manu. We missed the tiger by 5 minutes but the thrill and excitement, I can’t explain. The night safari is too awesome with Manu. He has good knowledge about the jungle and animal behavior. Will surely visit next time.

Simply fabulous, A getaway to the jungles with all the wilderness you can expect. And a bonus, Spotted a big cat. Kudos to Mr. Manu and Vishnu.

Pathetic food, management was too rude and not at all supportive. Couldn’t sleep at night due to bed bugs. Ignore this place if you are traveling with family.
