Clyfford Inn in Kannur was a total letdown for us. I can list down the terrible experience below:
1) When we checked in to the hotel, we were given a key to our two rooms and left by ourselves to find the room and bring the luggage. No one showed us to our rooms
2) The elevator we took didn't close its doors, and we had to seek help to close the elevator
3) The key to one of the rooms wouldn't open the door, and I had to go all the way down to the reception to seek help.
4) The room had broken lights, and the key wouldn't turn on any lights, so they gave us another room.
5) The towels in the room weren't clean; the bedding had a smell; there were no kettle and tea bags in the room to make tea.
6) The remote of the TV was dirty, the battery was open and it didn't work properly
7) There was no hot water in the bathroom
8) The fan was shaking and made a sound while running. we felt the fan was lose and would fall down, so we kept the fan OFF
9) The hotel does not have a restaurant of its own. They have some deal with a close by restaurant to do room service. It's a very local restaurant that doesn't do the room service nicely.
10) We paid extra money to book a room with breakfast. I called the room service for tea at 6 a.m., and they said breakfast wouldn't be ready till 7:45 am. Even at 7:45, they said the breakfast wasn't ready for room service. Later, we visited the local restaurant the hotel had a tie-up with and had breakfast . The breakfast was decent, but the expectation of a 3 star hotel was definitely not met.
The only nice thing I could mention about our stay was even though the check out time was at 12 pm the hotel let us stay in one of the rooms booked till 2:50 pm till our train time.
Overall, the stay was quite disappointing. the room also had stains on the walls and looked like a hotel they actually had plans to shut down. I felt so bad that our booking didn't meet our expectations.
