Review Of Mercure Cairo Le Sphinx Hotel

I booked a pyramid view room and was charged for the same. But the room I that I was assigned did not have a pyramid view. In fact it had the view of buildings next to the Hotel. The Hotel staff made no effort to correct or compensate for the extra money that I paid. Also the room was dingy and dirty. Terrible experience!

Horrible stay at hotel. Service was very poor. Not fit for even two star hotel.
They charged for early check-in but it is mentioned less amount in their display board. There is no internet connectivity in the room and that is to be in a five star hotel. The taxi drivers linked with hotel are always ready to make you fool and charged whatever the price that come to their mind at that instant. No body neither picks up reception phone nor room service phone and whatever your requirements that you have to get it done by physically following them up for at least three times. They have provided 1.5 liter mineral water for entire 7 days stay in the room. If you sit in the lobby for more than 15 minutes then you are becoming a passive smoker. Every night some of them are must be out of their mind and making noise like anything else because of excess consumption of alcohol in the bar which is adjacent to lobby. Finally, an horrible experience in the hotel.

The hotel location was near to the Pyramids and you can see these through the balcony if you have chosen the category of the room accordingly. People smoke openly in the hotel and that is not the right air quality in the open areas. Room service is pathetic, things don't come or will come after reminders or waiting of 30 minutes.

Room is very close to Giza pyramids. Only about 2 km far. 1 hour from Cairo airport. Rooms are comfortable. Room service is also good. Breakfast is not good with very little options. They do not even have a toaster for bread. No small eateries nearby. You have to take a cab to go out to the nearest restaurant. Otherwise overall a decent stay.

Bad room service... No complimentary drinking water... The reception guy committed for an early check-in but after we waited for 2hrs started give lame excuses like they didn't have any Housekeeping staff to get the room cleaned for us etc. After we finally got a room we had to change it twice beach use first he gave us a room for differently ab led and then a room with 2 separate beds.. The hotel ambience is not that good... Not even close to a 4-star... The staff is lazy and rude.. I spite of informing a day earlier they didn't arrange an early breakfast for us.. Won't recommend a stay there...

The hotel was very good. It was a bit far from downtown Cairo, but bang opposite to the Giza pyramid complex. Facilities are excellent. Rooms are clean and well equipped. I especially recommend the in hotel travel concierge- Cobra Travels and its manager Mr. Aladdin Helmy.

Good location, right next to the Pyramid if that is your key reason to be in Cairo. Distant from the main city and other attractions such as the museum and the airport etc. Room service was awful but decent breakfast spread. Overall value for money if Pyramids is your main focus but nearby hotels such as Movenpick and Meridian will be better options for slightly higher cost.
