Average Stay
We had an overall nice stay at himalayan retreat at kolakam. The interaction with the owner and staff was very interesting and enjoyable. Few amenities and fooding hurdles were there due to shortage of staff during the holiday weekend but the staff tried to resolve the issues at their best.

Not up to the mark
Behaviour is bad. Insensitive. Very poor service. They don't have the electricity. Solar power could not run whole home stay. Frequent power cut on rainy day

As per the record, this booking was a no-show. It appears your issue is something else - perhaps no refund as per cancellation policy with MMT. What is the need to write misleading comments and what purpose will it serve sir ?
Excellent homestay, magnificent viewpoint, superb plant collection
coupleExcellent homestay with all the necessary amenities. Situated in a strategically superb location, only this homestay has a viewpoint which has stunning view of the valleys of mountains. This homestay has a large collection of succulent plants which decorates the entire homestay. Only 1. 75 km from change y water falls, one can easily truck through the silent valley to reach the waterfall. Stuffs are all well behaved.

It was a good stay. Problem only food and road condition. Both are horrible. Hot water view points and only satisfactory.

Respected Sir, It's a National Forest area and wifi is not available and a 5 KM stretch of road that passes through National Forest is not covered by tarmac but it is good motorable road. Being Eco-Sensitive area in Neora Valley National Park, the roads infrastructure is governed by Govt. Policies and the small stretch of 5KM is indeed considered adventurous by many other guests. Thank you for your feedback as it will help many other guests to take better informed decision regarding their travel. The 5KM stretch is motorable but it is not a tarmac road and calling it horrible is indeed an overstatement. Regarding food - again your calling it horrible is surprising for us and a more specific feedback could have helped us to respond and take required corrective measures.
One of the best property to stay at kolakham
My stay at himalayan retreat homestay kolakham was nothing short of spectacular. The hotel had a very unique eco-friendly artistic design, the hill view from the homestay was truly magnificent, relaxing and enjoyable. Hotel manager harsh-pal singh was very friendly and caring, food was also very tasty. Nice property and i love their diy workshop and dining area where you can enjoy food with karaoke or playing guitar, it's really fun i enjoyed my trip really well.

Stay at kolakham location wise very good. However, the room lacked some of the basic facilities like # cable tv wasn't working # geyser not available # room heater wasn't available # tea and coffee maker was shown in room picture in mm t website, it wasn't available food was tasty and staffs were cooperative. It's a basic homestay where you can stay for one day but not more than that.

The location and view is wonderful. The food was very costly and not up to the mark. Amenities and hygiene were good. The staff and manager should speak the official languages of west bengal. They openly refused to speak in bengali. Local organic farming is very good and it can be helpful for enrichment of the food menu as the only vegetable available in the food is potato.

Thanks for your feedback. Since you travelled to Kolakham, you'd know that Kolakham is located in Kalimpong district and is a very remote area which falls under the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration and the population here speaks Nepali which is also the official language of West Bangal. The staff and manager you say refused to speak Bengali. It's surprising to hear this comment. The staff and manager do not know Bengali then how can they speak or refuse. You've come from Bengali speaking belt to Nepali speaking belt and reserved your stay in a homestay which is a local house of a non bengali speaking person. Regarding your one star rating for wifi, this remote offbeat village does not have infrastructure with optical fiber or wired network. We've not claimed anywhere that we offer wifi. I've checked your record with us and noted that you availed whole day meal package. While it is true that this tough terrain can not offer an elaborate menu but at the same time I must highlight to you that when you opt for whole day meal package (which is more affordable option, you will not get option of selecting vegetables of your choice and will be served what is prepared as common meal for all the guests who opt for package. This is clearly explained to our guests. Your experience would have been better with ala carte option. Food as you felt is expensive but this offbeat village does not get it's grocery supplies easily and even cooking gas is procured from Kalimpong which is at a distance of 48 Kms. Despite such service challenges, we offer whole day meal package at Rs 650- per person for morning tea, breakfast, lunch, evening tea and snacks and dinner. For the dinner chicken is served. This information and detailed Menu Card is available on our website and otherwise on internet. These are very affordable rates and without any exorbitant margin for us. It's always better to check such things beforehand.

Excellent Stay
The location, scenic view was amazing. Rooms, toilet very big size. Centralised geyser is there. Staffs were very courteous and helpful. Food is also tasty and reasonable price. There was a plant nursery, par-lour also. For children there was a swing, library, indoor games. The dining place so beautifully decorated that one can spend the whole day there. It is a home away from home. I highly recommend this place to others.

Excellent Stay
Himalayan retreat is a different kind of boutique resort. Apart from normal homestay facilities there are lots of other attractions like - a nursery, kids arts room, a beautiful cafe, a shop and digital seva kendra. The behaviour of the owner and staff are friendly. Food quantity is also pretty good and you can choose from different options. Combining all we had a pleasant experience.

Excellent Stay
The property is really beautiful with it's serene location & the gorgeous garden having various flowers & orchids. The rooms & bathroom were clean & enough spacious for 3. The beds were comfortable & good. The staff was very cordial, helpful & listened to all our requests. Overall we really enjoyed the stay. The food bill was a little high but that's fine considering the hard effort they need to get things there.
