Jammu is situated in the province Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu is also known as the city of temples as it has many temples and pilgrimage centers. One such pilgrimage is vaishno Devi. Best time to travel
The climate varies in response to the altitude. Jammu has a pleasant and cool climate for most part of the year and can be visited from September to April. The best time to visit the city is during the famous festivals like Lohri, also known as Makara Sankranti (January), Ramnavami (March) and Deepvali (October) when the whole town gets sodden in these celebrations.

Purmandal is an ancient holy place with several temples of Shiva. Nandini wildlife sanctuary is famous for a significant number of pheasants. Mansar Lake has a boating facility provided by the tourism department. It is famous even for its flora and fauna. Other places of interest are vaishno Devi, bahu fort, machail mata, shivkhori etc.
