Things to Do in Zermatt

  • Matterhorn Museum

Experience the myth of Zermatt with a visit to the Matterhorn Museum. It showcases the events that made Zermatt and Matterhorn famous.

It explains the curious relation between the first four mountaineers scaling Matterhorn and how their death changed Zermatt from a farmer’s village to a world famous resort. The broken rope from the first ascent is a special attraction in the museum.

  • Skiing and Mountaineering

Zermatt has the finest ski resorts in Switzerland, the only place in the country where you get snow 365 days of the year. This postcard perfect valley and pollution ‘car-free’ zone is thronged by adventure enthusiasts throughout the year primarily for snow activities such as skiing and mountaineering.

The Matterhorn, Gornergrat and Rothorn mountains provide perfect slopes for skiing and mountaineering. Reaching the ski region of Zermatt is super easy – it is well connected by ski-lifts, cableways and railways.

From November to April, you can indulge in snow sports, ideal for amateurs and professionals alike. There are designated snow trails for skiing; if you wish to ski off-trail, don’t forget to hire a guide.
