Things to Do in Sydney

  • Sydney Opera House

A marvel and feat of great engineering and architecture, the Sydney Opera house is in fact one of the most distinct 20th century buildings in the world. Synonymous with Australia, the Opera House is located on the eastern headland of Circular Quay and is renowned throughout the world for its path-breaking design. The striking architecture of the place has also found it a place in the UNESCO’s List of World Heritage Sites.

The Sydney Opera House offers a variety of cultural performances, tours and dining options. Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Theatre Company, The Australian Ballet and the Opera Australia have regular performances over here, with upto 1500 taking place every year. You can choose to explore the iconic attraction on your own or can opt for one of the guided tours (some of which may even take you to the backstage). The duration of these tours is 1-2 hours, approximately.

  • Tetsuya’s

Tetsuya’s ranks amongst the very best of Sydney’s restaurants. Between 2002 and 2012, it was also featured on the S. Pellegrino World’s Best Restaurants' list. You shall find yourself enchanted by the ornate ambience and the ever delicious cuisines. The service at the restaurant leaves nothing more to be desired.

How to Reach Sydney

By Air

Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport is the busiest international airport of Australia. It is well connected with the major cities of the world. The airport is also very well linked with the other international as well as domestic airports in Australia. From the airport, you can hail a cab, board a suburban train, take a local bus, or hop on to a shuttle bus to get to your destination in Sydney.

By Bus

Private as well as government run buses link Sydney, New South Wales to other parts of the country and most of these buses arrive at Sydney Coach Terminal. All buses and coaches are equipped with safety and comfort features to make your travel as convenient as possible.

However, government bus services are more economical than the private ones. Travelling by road also gives you a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery along the Pacific Highway.

By Train

Sydney is well connected by rail to Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. There are railway links (Ghan and Indian-Pacific) between New South Wales and Perth, Alice Springs and Adelaide as well. Many trains and buses from the Central Station in Sydney are operated by government’s Countrylink.
